You're a monster to them. You can see it in their faces, no? They're disgusted.
The first thing I registered was a dull beating sensation behind my skull, my eyes burning before I'd even opened them. Prying my lids open, I sheathe my eyes away from the blaring light, just able to see the blurry figures in front of me. It didn't take a lot of clarity to realize I was chained up, nor did I bother to pull against my restraints. My mouth was unbearably dry, as if I had left it open during a desert storm. Heaving scorched coughs, I tried to build saliva in my mouth to wet my throat so I can at least attempt to muster a scream, or a cry for help. That too, would be futile.
"Water." My voice comes out creaky and hoarse, and I wince at the sheer embarrassment of my request.
"In a position to be making demands are we?" Shigaraki's sly voice was one I was already becoming accustomed to.
Regardless of his sarcastic tone, his comrade Twice hurried to the sink, fetching a plastic cup as he filled the lukewarm water. As he made his way towards me, Shigaraki shot him an unsatisfied glare, but let him raise the cup to my lips. I took greedy sips, licking at the droplets running down my chin.
"Well, hydrated?" He takes a stool from what looks to be an alcohol bar, and it's only then do I decide to use my survival skills and at least scope up my kidnappers lair.
But honestly, my findings leave me disappointed. It was a fairly ordinary scene, some abandoned bar God knows where. At least the Murakami's hideout had the sense of mystery and predatory intent. I can't imagine anyone doing any scheming here, a raggedy warehouse that smelt of piss.
Shigaraki sits down in front of me, and the rest of his team come up behind him. Leaning on walls or busying themselves with a game of cards.
"So you're this Reaper's Child fella? I was never a fan of your work." He shrugs his shoulders, his eyes trailing lazily across my frame.
"I was! I have this whole notebook of how I thought you looked like behind your mask. Needless to say I was not close at all." Toga pipes up behind Shigaraki, coming up eerily close to me to inspect my face.
"Toga. You can ogle her later, I'm getting to explain my evil plans." He sighs, and I start to wonder how his patience hasn't run out with this psychotic group.
She runs a strand of my hair between her fingers, softly at first, but without an ounce of hesitation she rips the chunk and fists it in her pocket. "For my collection!" She grins and scurries off to whatever fetishes she wishes to succumb to in her tomb of horrors.
"Anyone else feel the need to interrupt or can I fucking speak." The hushed chatter came to a stop as the sounds of cards rustling receded. The villains turned their full attention towards Shigaraki and I.
"I had no intention of humoring you or your fanatics, you weren't even the one I was looking for when we invaded your school. But fate has brought you to my clutches it seems. AFO seems far more interested in you then I am, and so he's proposed you join my league." Shigaraki sighs in contempt, and I had a hunch that he wasn't too glad to comply with his leaders order.
I had a moment of Deja vu. A different proposition, a different lifetime, a different outcome. Around 6 months ago today, All Might had invited me to join U.A, and now here I was, being offered sanctuary by his number one nemesis.
"I'm okay." I say, unable to keep my head lifted above my shoulders. My hands, legs, and waist were cuffed. Excessive, to say the least, but I would have done the same had I been in their position.
"I don't think you understand. Either you join our team, or you die."
"The latter please."
He contorts his face into one of confusion, but anger doesn't cloud his features. If anything, he looks at me in what seems to be pity.
