As I saw her, my eyes widened and I ducked my head, but it was too late. She had seen me and was walking towards where I was sitting.

I started to get out my stuff, trying to look as innocent as possible. I gulped as she sat next to me and began taking out her stuff.

After we had both gotten everything we need, there was a moment of awkward silence between us.

"Uh, hi, I'm Dakota." Dream Girl says as she holds out her hand for me to shake. I grasp her hand and look into her beautiful brown eyes.

"Mackenzie. Nice to meet you." I greet, knowing that part of what I was saying isn't true. I had already met her, multiple times, but only ever in my dreams. I let go of her hand and look down, some of my hair falling into my face. I look up in surprise as she pushes the hair out of the way. She's smiling a little bit as she does and I can't help but lose my breath for a second. When I can finally speak again, I ask, "Uh, would you like to get lunch after class?"

"I would love to." She says, her smile growing. I smile at her, then turn to the front of the class, where the professor is just walking in.

Throughout the lecture, our elbows would touch every once in a while. I kept getting distracted by how her eyes glimmered in the light or how her hair moved when she shifted in her seat. And it didn't go unnoticed the amount of times she stared at me as well.

Once the lecture had ended, we packed up our stuff and headed out. She was following me as I walked her to one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

We walked in and walked to a table, since it was self-seating. Soon enough a waitress came by, and I ordered my regular, which was a bacon cheeseburger with waffle fries and a Coke. Dakota ordered a chicken sandwich with curly fries and a Pepsi.

As we waited for our food, we talked. We were still talking when our food came. We were quiet for a couple of second before we started to talk again. I figured now was as good a time as any to ask her about the dreams.

"Hey, uh, this might sound weird, but have you seen me in your dreams lately?" I say, looking at her intently. Her eyes widened and she almost choked on the Pepsi she was drinking. I leaned forward and started patting her back as she coughed. After she was done hacking, she looked at me again.

"You've been having them too?" She asks as she continues to stare at me. I nod and take a sip of my Coke. "How long have they been going on for you?"

"Only about two weeks. And you?"

"About the same." She answers, nodding her head adorably. "Do you think we've been having the same dreams each night, or. . .?" She trails off, looking into my eyes again.

"Well, what one did you have last night?" I ask, picking up my burger and taking a bite.

"We were on a cliff and I was looking at you. You were looking at the horizon. I was asking you questions and eventually, we both leaned in and I kissed you. After that, we fell off the cliff."

"Sounds about right." I say, eating a fry. After I had chewed and swallowed, I leaned back in my chair. I crossed my arms as I felt my eyebrows furrow. I stared at the ceiling as I thought. "But what does it mean?"

"Could be some hormonal or chemical thing, but I doubt it, considering we were so far away. I mean, you were here, and I just transferred from UMass. We were on opposite sides of the country."

I looked down at her and we just stared at each other for a long moment. I kept noticing how her eyes lightened to a golden color in the light and how her hair turned into a fiery orange. She was gorgeous.

"Are you okay with the dreams?" I ask her, leaning forward and resting my elbows on the table as I looked into her eyes unblinkingly. "Because, besides the whole dying part, I'm totally okay with kissing a beautiful girl like you."

She blushed, looking down, but not before I saw the smile playing at her lips. She looked back up after a minute and looked me in the eyes.

"Unsurprisingly, I don't mind kissing a gorgeous girl like you either." She says, a grin spreading over her lips. For a moment we just sat in silence, taking each other in, and then her expression turned serious. "But I still want to figure out what's going on."

"Of course." I say, nodding and biting my lip. "How about we go to my place and start . . . researching, I guess?"

"Researching?" She teases, raising an eyebrow. I roll my eyes, before calling the waitress over and asking for the bill.

"Yes, researching." I answer, a smirk playing at my lips. "I don't sleep with anyone on the first date."

"Date?" She looks surprised, but a smile is making it's way onto her lips. The waitress comes back with the bill and I pay. Dakota starts to grab her wallet, but I stop her.

"I got it." I say, watching as the waitress walks away before looking back at the girl across from me. "And, yes, a date. If you're okay with that."

"I'm completely fine with that."
