Flashback:

In Jerry's office, Willy's Wonderland, decades earlier ...

The office was well-lit, and painted in cheerful colours.

Plushies of Willy Weasel and his friends crowded the various shelves in the room; lending a friendly, warm atmosphere to it.

A smiling Jerry Robert Willis, in his restaurant uniform; sat at his desk ... facing the serious-faced Sheriff Hobson and Deputy Lund.

Their contrasting moods clashed somewhat with the atmosphere ... as did their topic of conversation.

"You see, Mr Willis ..." the Sheriff began. "Maisie Bones, a promising student at Hayesville High School, and her parents disappeared from Hayesville a week ago ... and nothing has been heard or seen since!"

Hobson grimaced as he spoke, stress clear in his voice. The Sheriff never liked it when missing cases involved kids ... he always got too emotionally involved in those cases.

"No trace of them at all has been found in the town, or in any the surrounding areas—"

"That's why we're here", interrupted Deputy Lund briskly ... who was clearly less emotional about it. "We came because this was the last place that they were seen."

The female police officer then plucked a notebook from her belt, and started to ruffle through the pages.

"The investigating report, so far, says that the Bones family booked the 'Super Happy Fun Room' for a birthday party ... and vanished."

Lund then lifted her shrewd gaze from her notebook, until it met Jerry's nonchalant one.

"I don't suppose that you know anything more ... Mr Willis?" she asked, dryly.

The aforementioned man sighed, and then skilfully adopted a 'sincere' tone ... laced with seriousness.

"Sadly not, my dear", Jerry said, his voice dripping with appropriate sympathy. "I wish that I did though ..." he added.

"Maisie and her folks are some of my best customers, and I'd truly hate to lose them!"

The restaurant owner then leaned forward in his chair, folding his arms as he smiled charismatically at Hobson and Lund.

"We here always do my very best for our customers!" Jerry laid a hand on his heart in a 'sincere' gesture, as he spoke.

"But I swear to you two, I personally saw them leave the Super Happy Fun Room at the end of the party!"

(... Jerry means that he saw their dead bodies being carried out, and stuffed into bags by his crew ...)

The restaurant owner then shrugged, his expression quickly changing to one of indifference.

"Wherever they went after that ... well, it wasn't any of my business!" Jerry quipped, nonchalantly.

Deputy Lund narrowed her eyes, however, at the restaurant owner ... feeling suspicious over his apparent unconcern.

"For someone so focused on customer welfare ... you sure don't seem that concerned about Maisie and her family's whereabouts?" the female officer pointed out.
