their eyes held no color at all
haunting you down
there was nothing, and you were nothing
against their twisted tongues
that could not wait
to taste you.
their fingernails dug into your body,
and their lips kissed your skin
only to bite and tear you apart
with their flawlessly white teeth.

what is love
if not a sacrifice?
you were damaged a long time ago,
your only worry was
if your flesh, filled with the taste
of shame, rage, and hatred,
would make them sick.
you cried not out of pain
but out of pure relief.
you were never truly loved,
but in the end, you were
usable.
now you can rest in their
stomachs.

maybe you failed again, though.
their abdomens may never fill.
what if you were meant to
watch your reflection on a calm lake
without a single thought?
maybe you should have given up
all your passion
and just lived in peace.
