Riley sat beside me, her laughter filling the air as we drove, the wind whipping through our hair.
But then, in an instant, everything changed.
A loud screech pierced the air, followed by the sickening sound of metal crunching against metal.
I slammed on the brakes, my heart pounding in my chest as the car skidded out of control.
Time seemed to slow as the world spun around us, the car careening off the road and into the ditch.
I gripped the steering wheel with all my strength, trying desperately to regain control, but it was too late. With a deafening crash, the car flipped over, metal twisting and glass shattering all around us.
I felt a sharp pain shoot through my body as everything went black. When I came to, the world was a blur of chaos and confusion.
Smoke filled the air, mixing with the smell of burning rubber as I struggled to free myself from the wreckage.
"Riley?" I called out, my voice hoarse. "Riley, where are you?"
But there was no answer.
Panic surged through me as I frantically searched for her, my heart pounding in my chest.
Avery's drawing was ripped apart and covered in blood and glass.. And then, through the haze of smoke and pain, I saw her.She lay motionless on the ground beside the car, her body battered and broken. Tears welled up in my eyes as I crawled toward her, my hands trembling as I reached out to touch her.
"Riley," I whispered, my voice breaking. "Please, wake up."
But there was still no answer.
"Riley, are you okay?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. Panic surged through me as I reached out, shaking her gently. "Riley, please," I begged, tears streaming down my face.
"You have to wake up." But she remained motionless, her eyes closed, her chest still. "No," I whispered, the word catching in my throat.
"No, this can't be happening."
But as I looked around at the twisted wreckage, the reality of what had just happened sank in.
We had crashed, and Riley... Riley was gone. My phone was completely broken.'' I need your help'' I screamed out..
I saw someone standing next to the car that crashed into us.
"My girlfriend, please help me save her'' I cried out.
''Is anyone there?''
'''Jace, Jace is that you?'' the guy said. ''Yes, it's me. We need to help Riley. She's not breathing, but maybe we can still save her!'' I cried out.
''Riley? Riley is in your car?'' the voice trembled and the person ran toward me. ''Yeah, she-''
I didn't get to finish my sentence. The boy–Thomas I realized as he got closer didn't make it to me.
