We heard a sound, it sounded like a gun was reloaded.
''You really thought you were safe?'' Miles said, pointing the gun at us.
My heart skipped a beat, ''Miles? What-?''
He stepped closer and I directly pulled Thomas closer to me.
''I've played my part long enough. But now, it's time for the real fun to begin.''
I couldn't believe what he said, was he being serious...
''Stop joking around, Miles. This isn't funny" I said, my voice shaking.
''Oh I am not joking, I am here to finish what Alex started.'' He said with a cruel smile.
I clung to Thomas, crying.
''Let Avery go, Miles. What has gotten into you?'' He tried to sound confident and stand his ground.
'''Move upstairs, now!'' He demanded, but we stood there.
I was paralyzed from fear and Thomas couldn't believe it, Miles's betrayal.
''I said move upstairs or I'll kill both of you right this instant''
Thomas helped me to my feet, his arm supporting my weight as I struggled to walk. My leg was screaming in pain.
''Hurry up!'' Miles barked, pointing the gun closer at us.
''I don't have all day''
''I am trying'' I cried out, ''I can't walk any faster''
''You're useless, Avery'' he gave me a little push, which made me fall.
I screamed out in pain, I landed on my wrong leg.
''Now, move!'' Miles said cruelly.
''I'll carry her, just don't you fucking hurt her'' Thomas said as he lifted me up.
We made our way upstairs, Miles shoved us into a small, dimly lit room.
''Now I am going to make sure neither of you get out of here alive''
He pointed the gun at Thomas first, my heart skipped a beat.
''NO!'' I screamed, throwing myself in front of Thomas.
''Don't hurt him'' Miles laughed cruelly
''Move, Avery or I'll shoot you first'' Tears streamed down my face, but I didn't move.
I couldn't. ''Avery, please just–'' Thomas whispered with tears in his eyes.
''Fine'' Miles said with a shrug. ''Have it your way''
He pulled the trigger.
