Faye sat on her bed, phone in hand, typing out a message to the group chat she shared with her close friends. Her thumbs hovered over the screen as she tried to find the right words. So much had changed in just a few short weeks, and she wanted to share how much happier her life had become with Yoko by her side.

"Hey guys, just wanted to give you a quick update. Yoko moved in with me, and I honestly couldn't be happier. It's been...amazing. She's really opened up, and it feels like everything is finally falling into place." She sent the message, feeling a sense of warmth as she thought about Yoko.

As the responses came flooding in—heart emojis, congratulations, and the occasional teasing comment—Faye couldn't help but smile. They'd all known how much she cared for Yoko, and now, seeing her so comfortable and free in their shared space made it all worth it. Her heart swelled at the thought of Yoko finally having a place where she felt safe and loved.

Meanwhile, at university, Yoko was practically glowing. She moved through the campus with a newfound sense of confidence, and people were starting to notice. Marissa, who had been watching Yoko carefully for weeks, couldn't help but pull her aside after class.

"Okay, spill," Marissa said with a smirk. "You're practically radiating these days. I know there's something going on."

Yoko blushed slightly but smiled, unable to contain her happiness. "I moved in with Faye," she admitted, her voice soft but sure.

Marissa's eyes widened. "Wait, so... you're officially together?"

Yoko nodded. "Yeah, we're together."

Marissa grinned. "That's awesome. I had a feeling that' gonna happen soon. You seem so much happier now."

Not everyone was as supportive, though. A few students had noticed the change in Yoko and whispered behind her back, making snide comments about her relationship with Faye. Some weren't exactly subtle, their words dripping with judgment, especially about their same-sex relationship.

But Yoko didn't care. Not anymore. She knew what she felt was real, and she had no doubt that it was mutual. Her love for Faye wasn't something anyone could diminish with their hateful words. She held her head high, focusing on the people who mattered—Faye, her friends, and the few who supported her unconditionally.

Still, despite her newfound happiness, there was one part of her life that weighed heavily on her heart—her parents. They had tried reaching out to her a few times, mostly through text messages that were still laced with anger and disapproval.

"Come home," one message had said. "We need to talk. This nonsense with Faye needs to stop."

Yoko stared at the words for a long moment before dismissing the messages, her heart heavy. She missed them. She missed her family, their warmth, and their familiarity. But their refusal to accept her relationship with Faye made it impossible for her to go back.

That night, as she curled up next to Faye on the couch, she couldn't hold it in any longer. "They messaged me again," Yoko said quietly, her voice barely a whisper.

Faye turned to her, worry etched across her face. "Your parents?"

Yoko nodded, tears stinging her eyes. "They don't accept us. It hurts, you know? I miss them, but I can't go back to pretending I'm someone I'm not."

Faye gently pulled her closer, wrapping her arms around her. "I'm so sorry, Yo. You don't have to do this alone. I'm here, always."

Yoko buried her face in Faye's shoulder, feeling the familiar warmth and comfort. "I just wish they could see... how happy I am with you."
