05| Cuts and Bruises.
The fight last night was all anyone talked about. The school buzzed with information and rumors of what happened that night. I listened in, but none of the stories were adding up. Everyone had something different to say about what happened that night.
I slammed my locker shut and took a moment to inhale deeply and then exhale. All morning I was fighting for my life to stay awake. I got only a few hours of sleep last night and it was really taking a toll on my body.
Thomas was MIA. We had not spook to each other since the argument last night. And I still felt like there was more to say. There was more that I had to say. Unfortunately, I think Thomas is avoiding me for that exact reason.
I felt a jab in my side, causing me to flinch at the physical touch. Danny stood next to my locker, leaning against the cool metal. He folded his arms and waited for me to speak first. The first thing I noticed was the huge black eye he had.
My nostrils flared before I rolled my eyes at the boy. "Hey." I said.
"Hey." He said. Dany was always happy and of course he had to add a friendly wave at the end. Even with a bruise that big he still smiled at me. "I heard you needed a ride. I can take you?"
The last part came out like a question rather than a statement. It was true. I needed a ride home. Thomas won't be taking me and I did not feel like being anywhere near my mother at the moment.
So, without thinking too much about it, I nodded my head up and down. "Thank you, Danny."
He stood tall and let out a small laugh, "Thank me later." He winked.
"What happened to your eye?" I asked.
"Is it that bad?" He jokingly said.
"Yes."
"Gee, thanks, Clem." He rolled his eyes. "You really do know how to make a guy self conscious."
"It looks bad, Danny." I said, ignoring his playfully manner. "You should really go get that checked out."
My eyes darted to the purple pigmentation around his nose. The color looked like it was spreading. One touch and it would send a sting through his body.

Danny was a nice boy. He was kind and funny. Although, sometimes I felt like he was silently judging me in his head. There were things we definitely did not see eye to eye on. Such as, ice cream.
"I'm just saying there are better things out there. Ice cream is so..." He tapped his fingers against the staring wheel. "-So boring."
"Boring? You know what's boring? Cookies." Danny turnt his face away from the road and made a look of disgust in my direction. I chuckled at his reaction.
"It's cold and melts." Danny complained.
I raised a brow at his claim, "Thats the whole point." I replied. It felt like I was talking to a stubborn toddler who refuses to admit to being wrong.
