//James POV//
It took us forever to find the Dragonets.
Two days, to be precise. So technically not that long, but still. It felt like forever, and sitting on a dragon for that long made my butt get sore. I'm not sure how Wren does it, to be honest.
When we finally found them, I nearly jumped out of my skin.
"James?" comes the startled shout from below. I look down and my heart skips a beat. I see Sunny's golden scales- her emerald eyes are staring at me. She is visibly shocked.
A small kind of gasp escapes my lips and I slip on Sky's scales. I nearly fall off, but Wren grabs me with a warning in her eyes. She steadies me on Sky's back, nearly falling herself but recovering.
"Don't fall off, dummy," she says, looking extremely cocky.
I grumble something under my breath, but I am grateful.
"Thanks," I mumble.
I wave to Sunny. "Nice seeing you!"
Sunny grins. Sky lands next to her and lets me and Wren disembark.
The other dragonets emerge from a nearby cave. They look mostly unharmed apart from Clay and Rime; both have a few cuts across their scales. Probably from the battle. I shiver.
"Hey," I say awkwardly.
"Where have you been?" Tsunami demands immediately. A growl sounds low in her throat. She waves a talon at Sky and Wren. "Who are these people? Don't tell me you have scavenger friends."
She says the word scavenger like a human would say mutt or filth. It makes me want to slap her. If she wasn't a giant man eating dragon, I would've done it.
"Wren is nice. Give her some respect." I look at Wren, hoping she likes that I've stuck up for her, but her face is stony. Guarded. "Plus, she can be terrifying when she wants to be."
Wren finally cracks a small smile.
Starflight gasps. "She smiled at that. Hold up. Did she understand you? You were speaking Dragon!" He runs in a circle, excited. "YOU WERE SPEAKING DRAGON!"
"I'm aware," I say, rolling my eyes. I glance at Wren again. She's quiet, which is out of character. "Sky," I hear her whisper to Sky in Scavenger. "Do you think we can trust this people?"
Sky says something else, but I don't hear it because Clay is talking.
"James, how did you survive the fight? I mean, good job, but a scavenger in the midst of a dragon war wouldn't go well."
"I'm not sure. Well, I got knocked unconscious when I fell. Then I woke up as an IceWing prisoner." I look at Rime, finally remembering to tell him about Hoarfrost. I'd almost forgotten. "Uh, Rime? There's something I should probably tell you. My captor? It was your supposedly dead brother, Hoarfrost. He knew you're an animus, by the way."
Rime glances at Sky nervously at the last sentence, then looks at me with his eyes wide. He splutters out something I don't understand.
The other dragonets looked shocked as well- Sunny is surprised, Starflight is frowning slightly, Clay's eyes are wide, Tsunami looks skeptical, and Glory looks like she doesn't believe me at all.
"I wish I had a way to prove I'm telling the truth," I say. "But I don't. But I've known you guys for a while now, so you just have to believe me."
"Rime, if you'd like, we can find your brother right now," Clay offers. I'm not sure if he ended up meeting his siblings during the battle, but with the look on his face, he clearly understood what missing your siblings felt like.
Tsunami frowns, looking a little angry. She scratches the floor and growls, a quiet rumble at the back of her throat.
Rime notices this. "I think I'm okay. We can find Tsunami's parents. It's only right- it's been our plan since we left the MudWing kingdom."
"What about them?" Glory says, nodding to Sky and Wren.
"We'll leave," Wren says shortly. She climbs onto Sky. "Let's go, Sky."
The SkyWing doesn't protest, but he does smile at me. "Bye, James!" he says happily, lifting off into the air.
When he's out of sight, the dragonets sit in a circle to plan. I remember that Riptide led them to the SeaWing kingdom, but maybe he just hadn't shown up yet. Maybe tommorow.
Eventually we go to sleep. I don't know about the others, but I'm exhausted.
--
I wake up with a start. There's a loud roar sounding in my ears.
I jump to my feet and peek outside the cave. Tsunami's fighting another SeaWing with Clay nearby, blood running down his scales. The other dragonets are hanging around, unsure of what to do. Glory's jaw is hanging open like she wants to spit venom but is afraid of hitting Tsunami.
"Tsunami!" I shout. The princess promptly ignores me, so I try for the other dragon. "Riptide!" He glances at my direction fleetingly, but Tsunami slashes at his face and he focuses on fighting again.
"RIPTIDE!" I scream at the top of my lungs, the word tearing through my throat.
Everybody freezes. And everybody turns to me.
I can see the shock in Riptide's face, but it's not just him- the other dragonets didn't think I could do that.
"Uh, hi?" I say awkwardly, my throat hoarse.
Riptide's face is a war of emotions- shock, disbelief, anger- I've had a good experience with SeaWings in the past, but this one is very, very different.
He lunges at me and grabs my head, knocking me onto the floor. My head hits the ground hard and the world goes black.
--
I wake up with my head aching. I feel extremely groggy.
The dragonets are all there. Riptide is, too, looking guilty.
But I'm not on the island anymore.
I'm in the SeaWing kingdom.
But something's missing.
"Where's Rime?"

Honestly? This chapter sucks. I had like no time to work on it so it was pretty rushed, but I had a writer's block and crappy writing usually helps me. I was debating whether to publish this or not, but frankly, I'm too lazy to rewrite it, but hopefully in the future the chapters will be better quality. This one is also SUPER short.
anyways, I hope you still enjoyed this chapter. Bye!
