The overtime period was a battle of wills. Both teams were exhausted, but neither one was willing to give up. Every possession was contested, every shot fought for. Ethan's arms were burning, his legs like jelly, but he kept pushing. His teammates were relying on him, and he couldn't let them down.

Liam was on fire, draining three-pointers when they needed them most. But West Valley wasn't giving up without a fight. With just seconds left in the overtime, the score was tied once again.

Ethan had the ball. There was no time left on the clock.

He called for a screen from Liam, then made his move. He dribbled left, then cut right, finding an opening. The defense collapsed on him, and with nowhere to go, he passed the ball to Liam. Liam was wide open at the three-point line.

The gym held its breath.

Liam took the shot.

Time seemed to slow as the ball flew through the air.

Bang.

The ball hit the rim.

Bounce.

The crowd groaned.

And then, miraculously, the ball dropped in.

The gym erupted in chaos. Ethan could hardly believe it. They had won. They had actually won.

Liam ran towards him, jumping into his arms. "We did it! We did it!"

Ethan couldn't help but laugh, the tension breaking. They had done it — without Jax, but still as a team. They had fought through the doubt, the pressure, and the fear of failure. And they had come out on top.
