Inayat POV
"They will never know that you're in Kashmir."
What? I'm in Kashmir! Ya Allah, how will I get out of here now? I felt terrible inside, but managed to maintain a confident disposition because I can't show them that I'm scared.
"Get her ready soon! She will have good practice with these brothers."
Rajjo came to the room, parting the curtains. I turned around to look at her. She seemed totally relaxed about whatever was going to happen with me.
She has seen me with my husband, in Amrood Kothi, still she couldn't decipher the depth of his love, and separated us. I was turning numb discerning her behaviour towards me.
"And the Sheikh is dying to marry her."
She blurted out, making me gawk at her with narrowed eyes. Who on earth is this Sheikh? He must be one who cracked a deal with my father....no, just Amjad from now on.
"Isn't the Sheikh already married?"
The middle aged woman, who was supposed to decorate me, asked Rajjo, while her hands were busy settling the make up products on that decaying dressing table.
"Yes! He is sixty, and married and divorced uncountable women till now, but who cares if he is paying us a handsome amount."
Rajjo replied, and my breathing escalated. What kind of world is this? I never knew the world had so many monsters in it, until I'm exposed to it without any support.
I am all alone here, with no identity of mine that could save me, and now I'm no more than a prostitute for all of them. There is no dignity or family name that could save me because they killed it all when I was declared dead.
Today I realised how little and stupid I was to believe the fairy tales narrated to me by my mother. The world isn't a happy place for a lonely woman. The crows always gather around her, to gnaw her body from all sides. The level of my patience had already crossed its limits.
"Shut up, you both. I'm already married."
I yelped at them, and they flinched. It's time to inherit the qualities of my brother and my husband, else I won't be able to survive here.
"He divorced you that night. Even if you want to get back to him, you'll have to get married to someone else."
Rajjo grumbled in a jeering tone, agitating me completely.
"NO! He didn't say the word three times. It was just two...and I don't believe this. It's not in our constitution."
I bellowed back at them, my eyes turned weepy again, recalling how he had uttered those words, but still he managed to refrain himself from saying it thrice. He showed his gestures of love towards me, even when he was mad at me.
"Who cares about the constitution, darling? And who cares about you or your husband? They will never know that you are alive, but I will make them know this once you are completely ruined."
The middle aged woman passed a taunt at me, silencing me completely. I gasped at her statement, and closed my eyes and fists tightly.
"You don't know the wrath of my husband yet. If I'm alive, he will come to know this. The messengers of Allah will convey my message to him. He won't believe that I'm dead, and like Sri Ram, he'll come searching for me...."
I declared, in the most dangerous version of my voice, and my eyes filled with tears immediately
"...and like Mata Sita I'll keep waiting for him."
