Chapter 28

Ruby and Jasper called out to Kent.

"Kent, stop!" Ruby called.

Treasure and Kent were both startled to see them.

"What are you doing here?" Kent asked them.

"We came to stop you!" came Jasper's reply.

Treasure was confused. "Stop him from what exactly?" She wanted to know.

Kent cleared his throat. "I- Oh. I think I know. They want to stop me from an experiment."

Treasure raised an eyebrow. "It's to bring Melody back, isn't it?" Her voice was sad.

Kent nodded. "I know this is stupid, but I don't feel I got closure."

Ruby walked over to Kent. "Do you think Melody wants you to do this? Or your boys? Knowing that this could mess up everything?"

Just as Ruby was speaking, clouds were forming together and Melody appeared in front of them.

"Hi, headmaster," her ghost smiled at him and Kent's face went white.

"Advisor?"

Melody nodded. "You have very clever students."

"They're Collin students," Kent reminded his deceased wife sadly.

"Yes, I've been watching our boy, and he's a great headmaster. The way you once were."

A tear slipped from Kent's eyes. "I want to caress your face."

Melody stopped closer and Kent was able to.

He let out a sigh. He looked over to see Treasure, who was looking sad and hurt.

"Go to her," Melody whispered.

"But-"

Melody put a finger to Kent's lips. "It's okay. I'm okay. We'll meet again. There's no doubt in my mind that we were meant to be, but you should move on. Love someone else. You deserve love, Kent," Melody spoke before disappearing.

Kent ran over to Treasure. He grabbed her face in his hands. "May I kiss you?"

"Yes," Treasure consented and they kissed.

"Does this mean?-"

"I'm not going to mess with anything-"

"How lovely! " a familiar voice said. It wasn't Shawn Paul. It was Houston, and he was Caden, Ian, and Mac.

"How-?" Ruby started and then stopped. Ian laughed.

"You can't get rid of us that easily, Ruby," Ian stepped closer to her.

Ruby stepped back. "Stay away from me."

"Oh, but I can't. I'm drawn to you. Just the way Shawn Paul was drawn to Melody and Jeanie."

Not thinking, Ruby shot out her poison at him and then Caden. She had a harder time with Houston though.

Houston tackled her to the ground. "I could bite you and turn you into mine. You'd never be a leader again," Houston growled into her ear.

Just as he was about to bite, Collin ran over to Ruby. He held up his silver wisher and grinned at Houston.

"Get off her," Collin spoke through clenched teeth."

"Or else what?" Houston taunted.

"This!" Collin held the wisher.

Houston got off Ruby and ran.
