The next morning, Riven was focused on cleaning their small room, muttering to himself about how messy it had become. "I swear, Eugene could make a mess in an empty room," he grumbled, sweeping up a pile of dust.
Eugene, lounging on the bed, decided he was bored. A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. "Riven, you missed a spot over there," he said, pointing to a random corner.
Riven didn't look up. "I'll get to it. Stop bossing me around."
Eugene smirked and purposely knocked over a small vase, sending it clattering to the floor. "Oops! Looks like you have more to clean now."
Riven stopped in his tracks, narrowing his eyes at Eugene. "Did you just-"
Eugene shrugged innocently. "It fell on its own."
Riven clenched his jaw, picking up the vase and muttering under his breath. "I'm going to kill him."
As Riven bent down to fix the vase, Eugene quickly knocked over a small stack of books. "Wow, Riven, your cleaning skills are terrible."
That was it. Riven stood up, fire practically blazing in his eyes. "Eugene, you little menace! Come here!"
Eugene yelped and bolted out of the room, laughing hysterically as Riven chased after him. "You have to catch me first!" Eugene shouted, dodging around the narrow hallways of the courtesan house.
Eugene ran outside and ducked into a corner, trying to catch his breath. "He'll never find me here," he whispered to himself with a sly grin.
Just then, a rich, drunk man stumbled out of the main courtesan house and spotted Eugene. His eyes widened as he staggered closer. "Well, well, what do we have here?" the man slurred. "A fairy boy? You're prettier than any of the girls here."
Eugene frowned and tried to step back. "Uh, thanks, but I'm not part of this place, so-"
The man grabbed Eugene's arm, pulling him closer. "Don't be shy. I'll pay whatever it takes. Come here."
Eugene struggled to pull away. "Let me go! I'm not interested!"
Just then, Kai appeared, his eyes narrowing as he sized up the situation. "Hey, hands off him," Kai barked.
The drunk man turned to Kai, frowning. "Why not? I've got money. How much for him?"
Kai crossed his arms, his face serious. "You can't afford him."
The man laughed drunkenly. "Everyone has a price. Name it."
Kai rolled his eyes, then smirked. "Well, you see... he's my son."
The man blinked in surprise. "Your... son? He doesn't look like you."
Kai nodded, keeping a straight face. "Takes after his mother. Now back off."
The man hesitated, looking between Eugene and Kai before finally stumbling away, muttering to himself. Kai let out a heavy sigh. "Thank the heavens he bought that."
Eugene peeked out from behind Kai, looking both amused and flustered. "Your son? Really?"
Kai glared at him. "You should be thanking me. If I hadn't stepped in, who knows what that drunk fool would've done?"
Just then, Riven arrived, his expression dark and furious. "What's going on here?"
Kai immediately turned on him. "You! This is your fault! Why did you let Eugene wander out here alone?"
Riven frowned. "I didn't let him do anything. He ran off when I was trying to clean the mess he made."
Kai pinched the bridge of his nose, exasperated. "Do you two ever stop causing trouble? I should charge you both for the stress you give me!"
