The sound of the battle grew louder as the imposter king's forces rallied, their cries slicing through the air like daggers. The moment of reckoning was here. Riven stood protectively in front of Eugene, his black wings spread wide, shielding the crown prince from harm. His golden eyes burned with determination as he whispered, "Stay behind me, Eugene. I'll protect you."

Eugene, despite his bruised and battered form, stepped beside him, his short black hair slick with sweat and blood. His white crown shimmered, catching the light of the chaos around them. "Riven, I won't just stand and watch. This is my fight too."

He grabbed a bow from the ground, his hands steady despite the turmoil. With every shot he released, his movements seemed almost otherworldly, his shimmering fairy dust trailing behind him like a comet. His arrows struck true, cutting through enemy ranks with precision.

Riven watched him out of the corner of his eye, both proud and terrified. He couldn't let anything happen to Eugene-not while he still had strength left to fight.

Nearby, Arius soared through the skies with his radiant blue wings, rallying their forces. "Push forward! For the crown prince and the kingdom!" His blade flashed as he cut down the enemy, his voice inspiring the army to fight harder.

The imposter king stood at the heart of the battlefield, his sinister grin mocking them all. "Is this all you've got, crown prince? A wild fairy and a childhood friend? How pitiful."

Riven snarled, gripping his sword tighter. "You'll regret underestimating us!"

The two clashed, their blades colliding in a furious symphony of metal. Sparks flew with every strike as Riven fought with everything he had. But even as he battled the king, his eyes kept darting back to Eugene, ensuring he was safe.

Suddenly, an enemy soldier broke through the ranks, hurtling a spear directly at Eugene. "No!" Riven roared, his wings propelling him forward. He reached Eugene just in time, shielding him with his body.

The spear tore through Riven's right wing, shredding it apart. A cry of pain escaped his lips as blood sprayed across the ground.

"Riven!" Eugene screamed, dropping his bow and catching him as he fell.

Riven gasped, his voice weak but steady. "It's... just a scratch."

Eugene's hands trembled as he cradled him. "Your wings-they're ruined!" Tears welled in his eyes as he pressed his forehead against Riven's. "Why did you do this? You didn't have to-"

Riven smiled faintly, his hand brushing against Eugene's cheek. "I'd give my wings a thousand times over... if it means keeping you alive."

Their moment was shattered by the imposter king's cruel laughter. "How touching. But love won't save you now."

Arius descended, his blade gleaming with blood. "Enough of this." With a powerful strike, he plunged his sword through the imposter king's chest.

The king gasped, a wicked grin spreading across his face as blood trickled from his mouth. "You may have won... but I still took away your lover's wings, crown prince..." With that, he collapsed, lifeless.

The battlefield fell silent. The imposter king's forces retreated, their spirit broken.

Eugene cradled Riven, his tears mixing with the blood on his hands. "We need to get him to the healer," he said, his voice trembling.

Arius nodded, his expression grim as he scooped Riven into his arms. Together, they rushed to the healer fairy's sanctuary, where Riven's wounds were tended to. Though he survived, his wings were beyond saving.
