Kamala's P.O.V.

The weekend had finally arrived. I woke up on a Saturday morning, anticipating my dinner date with Beyoncé. I was smiling pretty damn hard. Until Doug called me....

I wasn't in the mood to argue. He was served divorce papers the day before. So I figured he wanted to fuss about that. I didn't answer his call, so he decided to text me.

Doug: "Hi. I wanted to talk to you..."

Kamala: "About what?"

Doug: "Just wanted to apologize to you for everything. No matter why I cheated, I still shouldn't have done it. I'm sorry it has come to this. I was really in love with you. I still am...I just think you don't feel the same and I'm wondering if you ever did. I just need some closure, Kamala..."

I sighed. Did I think closure was deserved? Actually, yes.  There was a point where Doug and I were really close. It all went downhill after the bad news about me being infertile. I became distant and Doug went out to find affection in the arms and bed of another woman. Then of course, I started my affair with Beyoncé. We both fucked up with each other. So the least I could do was give the man closure.

Kamala: "There was a point where I felt the sane as you. Just because I am attracted to women doesn't mean I never loved you. I honestly wanted to be married to you forever and have a family with you. You were one of my best friends..."

Doug: "You were mine too. It's just that you kept pushing me away. Then I would let attention from other women get me caught up in bullshit. Now I'm about to have a kid with a woman that I'm not really in love with."

Kamala: "She's not having the abortion?"

Doug: "No. I apologized to her for suggesting it and told her I would co-parent with her."

Kamala: "That's good... I'm sorry for cheating on you as well though, Doug. And also for shutting you out and being distant."

Doug: "Thank you. I really do appreciate you apologizing. I wish you well, Kamala."

Kamala: "Likewise, Doug. Take care."

Doug: "You too...❤"

And that little red heart caused me to cry a little. No matter what, ending a marriage of thirteen years was sad and disappointing. Especially since we had actually been together as a couple a total of fifteen years. We started dating in 2009. He was the sweetest boyfriend I could've ever asked for. Which is why I don't hate Doug. He messed up, but so did I. He hurt me, but I hurt him as well. We made our mistakes....but we have both forgiven each other. Now we have the closure we need to move on....

After texting with Doug, I counted down the hours until it was time for me to see Beyoncé. I didn't know what to expect. Would she be chill or would she have her guard up?

"Break those walls down like you did when you took her virginity!", Taraji exclaimed when I discussed my concerns with her and Fantasia.

"Raji, please! Why are you so crazy?!"

Then of course Fantasia had to chime in.

"For real though, K. You're about to be an unmarried woman. So why not go hard to get the person you actually want?"

"She said she doesn't do relationships and she's definitely not interested in marriage", I told them.

"Shit, you shouldn't be interested in marriage either! At least not right now. Have some fun, girl! Let Beyoncé show you a good time", Taraji advised.
