The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft golden hue over the city as Chan walked to Felix's office, his mind still buzzing with thoughts of the previous night. The song he had been working on played on repeat in his head, weaving between moments of inspiration and uncertainty. Each note seemed to pulse with the connection he felt to Felix, a man who was both captivating and elusive.
As he approached the company building, Chan wondered about the secretary, the ever-present figure who usually greeted him with a bright smile and a quick nod. But today, the office was quiet, an eerie stillness that felt out of place.
Pushing the door to Felix's office open, Chan's heart raced as he stepped inside, ready to present the demo of his latest song. But the sight that met him sent shockwaves through his body. Felix was locked in an embrace with another man, their lips pressed together, hands roaming freely across the desk littered with papers.
For a split second, Chan froze, disbelief flooding his senses. The intimate scene before him felt like an invasion of privacy, yet he couldn't tear his eyes away from the heated moment. The way Felix's body melted into the other man's, the intensity of their kiss—it all unraveled something deep within Chan, igniting a fire of confusion and jealousy.
He quickly closed the door, heart pounding in his chest. Behind him, Han appeared, a knowing smirk on his face. "I hope that answers all your questions," he said lightly, but there was a seriousness in his tone.
Chan swallowed hard, the truth crashing over him like a tidal wave. "I... I didn't know he was..." he trailed off, unable to finish the thought. "Is he... is he always like this?"
Han shrugged, his expression turning sympathetic. "Felix keeps a lot of secrets, and I think it's safe to say he enjoys living in the shadows. But yeah, he's been known to get around."
Chan turned away, a mixture of frustration and hurt swelling in his chest. "I tried to deny it. I thought there was something... different about him."
"Different? Maybe." Han's gaze softened. "But the truth is, people like Felix rarely let anyone in. He puts up walls so high that only a select few can breach them."
Chan sighed, the weight of Han's words settling in his heart. "What about you?" he asked, trying to shift the focus. "You seem to have it all figured out."
Han chuckled lightly. "I wouldn't say that. But I do have a boyfriend who grounds me. It's nice to have someone who understands your struggles. You should find someone like that too."
"Yeah, right," Chan replied, shaking his head. "I'm just a nobody in this industry, trying to make a name for myself. Love is a luxury I can't afford."
"You'd be surprised," Han said, a hint of encouragement in his voice. "Sometimes the best connections come when you least expect them. Just stay open to the possibilities."
Chan nodded but couldn't shake the image of Felix with that man from his mind. After a moment of silence, he turned to Han, "I should give Felix this demo."
"Just be careful," Han warned, concern evident in his eyes. "He's not an easy person to deal with."
As Chan made his way back to Felix's office, he felt a knot forming in his stomach. He rapped lightly on the door, the sound echoing in the quiet hall. When he received no response, he pushed the door open again, half-expecting to find Felix still tangled in the other man's arms.
Instead, Felix sat at his desk, the intimacy of the previous moment replaced by a cold detachment. "You're back," he said, not looking up as Chan stepped inside.
"I wanted to give you this." Chan placed the demo on the table, his fingers brushing against the cool
surface. "It's the song I wrote."
Felix finally glanced up, his expression unreadable as he took the disc. "You can leave now."
Chan hesitated, the urge to turn and walk away battling with something deeper inside him. "Felix," he started, his voice wavering slightly. "Can I ask you something?"
Felix raised an eyebrow, his demeanor shifting ever so slightly. "Go ahead."
Chan took a deep breath, the vulnerability of the moment dawning on him. "I was wondering... would you want to sleep with me?"
The question hung in the air, electric and charged. Felix's eyes narrowed, a smirk spreading across his lips as he leaned closer. "And why do you think I would want you?"
The playful challenge in Felix's tone sent heat flooding Chan's cheeks, embarrassment coursing through him like wildfire. He felt exposed, his heart racing with a mix of shame and longing. "I— I didn't mean—"
Before he could finish, he turned away, desperate to escape the humiliation of his own words. He fled from the office, the weight of Felix's gaze burning into his back. As he walked away, he could feel the sting of rejection carving deeper into his heart.
Outside, Chan leaned against the cool wall of the corridor, his breath coming in quick gasps. The vibrant chaos of the city outside felt miles away, the sound muted as he tried to process the encounter. The longing he had felt for Felix morphed into something darker—disappointment mixed with an inexplicable attraction to the man who seemed to exist in a world of shadows and secrets.
As he stood there, he realized that the connection they had shared—the warmth, the laughter, the music—was slowly being overshadowed by the reality of who Felix was. He couldn't deny the way Felix had ignited something within him, yet the ice in Felix's demeanor served as a stark reminder of the barriers he had erected around himself.
With a heavy heart, Chan pushed away from the wall, determined to redirect his energy back to his music. There was a flicker of inspiration in the chaos, a reminder that he could still create beauty from the pain. He needed to channel his feelings into his art, using the heartbreak as fuel for the songs that might one day bring him closer to the dream he had always chased.
But the memory of Felix's smirk and the shadows that lurked in his eyes lingered, leaving Chan wondering if he was ready to face the storm that came with loving someone so profoundly broken.
