"Reaper's Role" -Konya II

Danzo Shimura. A cold-hearted bastard like myself was a perfect canidate to hold the leash on the Leaf Reaper. The Hidden Leaf elder was my second boss when Lord Hokage was busy, which he certainly was in this vulnerable hour of the Hidden Leaf.

After equpping myself with ninja tools and my Anbu uniform, I quickly made my way to Danzo's office and entered, seeing a couple members of the Root organisation guarding him. I would step forward and kneel before him. Danzo towered over me in his yin and yang robes, clutching his cane tightly. I could hear an explosion in the distance yet I was called here. My sensei was vulnerable in a hospital, yet I was here.

I looked at the floor shamefully as I listened for my orders. Danzo spoke in his gruff and scratchy voice, "Leaf Reaper Konya Uchiha, you are to complete two missions. First, you must assassinate Kaito, the leader of the Kurayami organisation."

"Kaito is here?!" Instinctively, my fists clenched for a fight. Although a wave of adrenaline rushed through my body, begging for fight and blood, my mind was conscious of Kaito's overwhelming power. I had never faced him before. I knew almost nothing about him. In the Third Shinobi World War, Kaito was titled The Wolf for his skills in all forms of jutsu and ability to utilise the strongest of all chakra beasts. Since then he had only gotten stronger with the acquisition of a sharingan eye which he used to kill Ikari Uchiha, the leader of the Uchiha Clan, two years ago. That was the last time anyone had reported seeing Kaito and I knew for a fact he had gotten stronger. 

"Indeed. Civilians have spotted a man matching the appearance of Kaito alongside several rogue ninja, some of which we have in our bingo book. Ikimono Handa, one of the Legendary Ijin of the East. Shinpi Kubo, that genjutsu specialist from the Land of Earth. He had over 1000 confirmed kills from just the Third Shinobi World War. There's also two men who only go by code-names, which are Bomei and Cobra." Danzo carefully explained the small amount of information we had gathered over the years about certain members of the Kurayami. "However, your mission is to eliminate Kaito. Do not let your feelings of hatred get in the way. It is paramount that Kaito dies today. Afterwards, I want you to capture Isamu Shiraki."

My neck cracked and threw my head up to look at Danzo with wide black eyes that were on the verge of turning red. I struggled to speak out of pure bewilderment. I had to capture my sensei? Slowly, my lips parted and I asked, "Capture? Why do I have to capture Isamu Sensei?"

"Any threat to the Hidden Leaf Village must be contained, which includes Isamu in his compromised state. We believe that whatever Ikimono Handa planted inside of him is connected to this attack. You will bring him to me for... containment." Danzo ordered unwaveringly and all I could do was obey my mission. That was the role of the Leaf Reaper. My role.

"Yes sir." I rose up. My gaze focused on the floor as I turned and left the office. Afterwards, I would quicken my pace as the reality of the situation became clear. Seconds could mean everything to the existence of this village. The sounds of swords clashing, shinobi screaming and explosions grew in both volume and quantity whilst I sprinted towards the outskirts of the village. 

Upon spotting four shinobi in hooded brown cloaks, the iconic uniform of the Kurayami, my instinct was to leap off of the building I was currently running on and land behind them. I formed the necessary hand seal and released a continuous beam of water that blasted all four of them off the roof. It was a ninjutsu I had copied from Hajime Kiyoko, who the Kurayami had murdered. Once the four of them had been washed away by my ninjutsu, I immediately ran forwards to the edge of the roof and formed the seal of the Tiger, destroying their injured bodies with a powerful Fireball jutsu. It became clear that the Kurayami recruiting process had gotten lazy, favouring quantity over quality, however this would make ending their reign of fear over the shinobi nations easier.
