Rick
Rick ruined it all. He finally pushed Sam too far. He slammed his fist on the wall, feeling nothing but frustration at himself. Then he heard something. A faint sound of Sam's wolf calling him. Rick felt queasy in the stomach. He had no idea why that could be. It didn't feel good. Sam was in distress, and he might have been the cause of it.
His phone rang by his bedside in the middle of the night. It was Sam calling him. He picked up the phone without wasting time.
"Sam," he breathed out his name in desperation.
"It's Nathan, Rick." the familiar voice said through the speaker.
"Why do you have Sam's phone?" Rick asked, confused.
Nathan was quiet for a few seconds before he finally spoke. "This boy came to my ER a few minutes ago. He is having a panic attack. And he is not letting my staff check on him."
Shit.
"I'm on my way." Rick had never gotten dressed so quickly in his life. Within seconds, he was on his motorbike, tearing down the streets toward the hospital, pushing it to its limits, and arriving in record time.
"Where is he?" Rick asked, barging into Nathan's office. He was talking to someone, probably a patient. He looked up slowly, a frown on his forehead.
"Excuse me," he said to the person sitting before him before moving outside his office to talk to Rick.
"How do you know the kid?" he asked, curious.
"It doesn't matter. Tell me where he is."
"He is in the third room from the left."
Rick rushed through the hallway before Nathan could ask anything else. He pushed inside the room to find Sam sitting on the bed, mumbling things as he swayed back and forth.
"Sam," Rick took his hand and kissed it.
"Rick?" Sam asked. "You are here?"
"Yes, baby. I am here," Rick said. "It's going to be fine now."
"They were touching me," Sam sobbed, his eyes closed.
"Who touched you?" Rick growled, wanting to kill the person who touched his mate.
"He wouldn't let the nurses put an oxygen mask on him," Nathan said from the doorway.
Rick placed his lips on Sam's forehead again. The wolf inside him was agitated, wanting to be as close to its mate as possible. "I am going to take you home, okay?" he whispered with his lips against Sam's forehead.
"Yes, Please."
"So, he is the one?" Nathan asked, still standing in the same position. Rick gave a curt nod.
Rick shouldn't have given Sam mixed signals. Pushing him away one time and pulling him close the other.
"Can I take him home?" Rick asked.
"How? On your motorbike?"
Rick was curious to know if it was sarcastic or a genuine concern.
"I could call for an Uber..."
"I can drop you," Nathan offered before Rick could finish his sentence.
"No, you don't have to. You are busy."
"I am done for today. My shift ended an hour ago when he came in."
Rick contemplated, but he couldn't waste any more time. Sam needed to be in a safe place. So, in the end, they hitched on Nathan's car. Sam fell asleep, mumbling Rick's name, in the back of Nathan's car while Rick sat beside Nathan in the passenger seat.
"He loves you," Nathan said, something like pain evident in his voice.
"I love him more," Rick said. It wasn't to make Nathan feel jealous or to take revenge for the time he broke his heart. The words came from a genuine place in his heart. He really meant that whether Nathan thought so or not didn't matter to Rick.
"He looks familiar," Nathan said, "is he the lanky kid that always roamed around you? Didn't you feel anything back then?"
"Maybe I did, but I chose to ignore it. Like a moron," Rick snapped. "I was a dumb ass back then."
Rick saw the tick behind Nathan's jaw. He was quiet for the longest time before he finally spoke. "You weren't a dumb ass. I was the possessive asshole. I didn't let you see anyone but me. I didn't let you explore new friendships. I guess I was selfish. "
Rick didn't know what to say. A few minutes later, they reached the pack house. After saying goodbye, Rick picked Sam up in his arms and carried him to his room. Nathan had a weird look on his face. Rick didn't have time to ponder it; he had more pressing issues in hand.
He placed Sam on his bed, removed his dirty clothes, changed his own clothes, and got in with him.
"Rick," Sam said, opening his eyes to a slit to look at Rick.
"How are you feeling now?" Rick asked.
"Much better. Your smell calms me," he commented.
"Yours too, love." Rick kissed him on his left ear, his lips traveling to the side of his neck. Sam groaned, grinding his butt on Rick's dick.
"What happened, Sam? Did I do something to trigger your panic attack?" Rick said, even though his dick throbbed to push being pushed against Sam's ass.
"I...It had never happened before. I think it was the exhaustion."
"Are you sure?" Rick asked, feeling there was more to it than Sam revealed.
Sam was quiet before huffing and turned around to face Rick. "I don't want Chris to ruin my relationship with you."
Rick searched his face with concern. "Did he force oral sex on you?" Rick asked, understanding drawing on him.
Sam nodded, looking guilty for some reason. Tears spilled down Sam's cheeks, and Rick gently wiped them away, his heart tightening with every drop. All he wanted was to take Sam's pain away, to ease the hurt etched so profoundly in his mate's eyes.
"I want to forget about it," Sam whimpered. "Will you help me forget about it?"
"What do you want me to do?" Rick whispered.
"Take me like an Alpha takes his mate."
Rick gulped, raw emotions threatening to overcome him. He wanted to give the world to Sam. Wipe away all his pain and replace every one of those painful memories with pleasure.
"Yes, baby. I will make love to you like an Alpha does to his mate."
