The Hogwarts Express let out a high-pitched whistle, signaling the departure from Hogsmeade station. Students hustled and bustled, finding their compartments or leaning out of the windows to exchange final goodbyes with Hagrid. For the Rosier twins and their friends, heading home for the holidays wasn't something that they particularly looked forward to.
Evita, Evan, Quin, Azrael, and Regulus found themselves in their usual compartment, the atmosphere filled with a mixture of excitement and dread. The anticipation of the festive season was overshadowed by the looming return to their respective pureblood families, each with its own set of expectations and traditions.
Evan let out a long sigh, staring out of the compartment window. "I can't believe we have to endure another holiday at the manor. I'd rather be tormented by Peeves or Binns' dreadfully boring voice."
Azrael nodded in agreement. "At least there, we're not constantly reminded of the pureblood nonsense and the upcoming arrangements."
"Don't get me wrong, we agree with it, it just gets so bloody tiring hearing it again and again and again," Evan groaned.
"The holidays mean endless gatherings and lectures from Mother about our 'responsibilities' to the pureblood legacy. I'm not looking forward to it at all." Evita couldn't hide her frustration.
"Well, think of it as a temporary escape from homework and classes. We'll survive, like always." Quin tried to lighten the mood.
As the Slytherins shared their concerns, a similar feeling of reluctance and unease surrounded the Gryffindor compartment. James, Remus, and Peter were preparing for a splendid holiday at their respective homes while Sirius could almost feel the anxiety crawling up his neck at the thought of being back at Grimmauld Place. The mention of it alone had Sirius clenching his jaw.
Tossing his trunk into the luggage compartment, he muttered under his breath, "Can't believe I have to spend weeks with those narrow-minded psychos. Merlin, I'll be seeing Bellatrix for Godric's sake!"
"Look on the bright side," James clapped a hand on Sirius' shoulder. "At least you've got your rebellious spirit to keep you entertained. Plus, Kreacher's lovely company."
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Oh, joy. I can hardly contain my excitement."
Remus, who had been reading a book, glanced up. "We'll get through it, Pads. Just like every other year."
As the train sped through the wintry landscape, both Sirius and the Serpents faced the inevitable – a return to their respective homes where pureblood expectations and societal prejudices awaited them. The Hogwarts Express carried them away, leaving behind the castle and the freedom they found within its walls.
Platform 9 and 3/4 bustled with departing students, families embracing, and trunks rolling along the cobblestones. As the Hogwarts Express came to a halt, the Serpents gathered their belongings, exchanging half-hearted smiles and supportive nods.
