The corridors of Hogwarts were cloaked in shadows as the Marauders stealthily navigated their way toward the entrance to the Slytherin common room. James, his hazel eyes glinting with mischief, brandished a small bag filled with a concoction of vividly colored powders. Beside him, Sirius clutched a parchment containing the incantation for a jinx they were about to unleash.Remus trailed behind them, his brow furrowed in doubt. He was uneasy about the prank they were planning, a malicious scheme fueled by revenge for the Quidditch pitch debacle. Deep down, Remus knew that the Slytherins had only retaliated to the Gryffindors' taunts during tryouts.
"Prongs, Padfoot, are you sure about this? I mean, they were provoked first. Maybe we shouldn't go through with it," Remus voiced his reservations, hoping to appeal to the reason he knew still existed in his friends.
James shot Remus a dismissive look, his determination unwavering. "They had it coming, Moony. We're just teaching them a lesson they won't forget."
Sirius added, "Besides, they won't learn if we don't hit them where it hurts."
As the quartet reached the entrance to the Slytherin common room, Peter, looking more eager than usual, whispered to Remus, "Come on, Remus, they need to be put in their place. This is payback for what they did at the Quidditch pitch."
Remus hesitated but reluctantly nodded, succumbing to the pressure of his friends. The portrait of the Slytherin common room swung open, revealing a dimly lit chamber adorned with green and silver tapestries. The room echoed with hushed conversations and the occasional cackle.
The Marauders snuck in unnoticed, finding the perfect spot to execute their prank. James sprinkled the powders in a strategic pattern on the floor while Sirius muttered the incantation under his breath. Remus couldn't shake the feeling that this was a step too far, but he remained silent, hoping that the prank would be harmless.
The powders glowed ominously as the jinx took effect, transforming the air into a shimmering haze. Suddenly, the Slytherin common room erupted into chaos. Desperate cries echoed through the room as Slytherins stumbled over invisible obstacles, tripping and colliding with one another.
As the Marauders watched the chaos unfold, Remus felt a pang of guilt. The laughter that escaped James and Sirius seemed more sinister than joyous. The prank, meant to be a form of justice, now felt like an act of cruelty.
As the Slytherin common room erupted into chaos, the Rosier twins, Evita and Evan, entered the scene with their usual air of regality. Evita, with her eyes as sharp as a serpent's gaze, immediately sensed something amiss. A subtle disturbance in the air, a hint of mischief that clung to the atmosphere. Ignoring the nagging feeling, she attributed it to fatigue and dismissed it.
However, as the twins advanced into the common room, the commotion became undeniable. Slytherins stumbled and collided, curses and exclamations filling the air. Evita's keen eyes quickly found Regulus, struggling to maintain his balance amid the invisible obstacles. His usually composed demeanor was shattered, robes stained and arms flailing all over the place.
