It had been a month since Evita Rosier quietly began digging for answers, and just last night, the full moon rose again. The days had gone by without much drama, but a tension still lingered beneath the surface—an itch she couldn't quite scratch.

Breakfast in the Great Hall carried on like usual. Students shuffled in, half-awake, yawning and dragging their feet. The room buzzed with chatter, silverware clinked against plates, and chairs scraped noisily against the stone floor.

At the Slytherin table, the Serpents sat together as always. The mood was light, Azrael cracking jokes about a third-year Hufflepuff who'd apparently tried—and failed—to hex him the day before. Laughter bubbled around the group, but Evita barely heard it.

She sipped her tea, eyes fixed on the Gryffindor table. As usual, James Potter and Sirius Black were seated at the center, commanding attention with their loud laughter. Peter Pettigrew hovered beside them, looking more subdued than usual. But one thing—or rather, one person—was missing.

Remus Lupin.

Evita's gaze narrowed thoughtfully. This was not the first time she'd noticed his absence, but the timing was no coincidence. Just as she suspected, Remus was missing again—right after the full moon.

She leaned back slightly, as though pondering something trivial, but her mind was racing. "Every month," she thought to herself. "Like clockwork, he's gone for a few days. And it's always around the full moon." The pieces were slowly coming together, but she needed more confirmation.

Across from her, Evan was finishing off his toast. He glanced at her and noticed the subtle shift in her expression. "You're unusually quiet this morning," he remarked, raising an eyebrow. "Something bothering you?"

Evita tore her gaze away from the Gryffindors, her expression smoothing into a practiced calm. "Just thinking is all," she replied, her voice cool and measured. "I've noticed a certain pattern with a few people around here. It's... curious."

Azrael leaned in with interest. "Patterns, you say? What kind? Care to share with the rest of us?"

Evita's lips curved into a faint, secretive smile. "Not just yet. I'm still gathering the facts."

Before Azrael could press her further, Quintessa spoke up. "Let her have her fun. She always figures it out in the end."

Regulus, who had been quietly observing the exchange, gave Evita a knowing look but said nothing. He had learned to trust her instincts, especially when she was this focused.

Evita returned to her tea, mentally cataloging every detail she'd uncovered so far. Remus' monthly absences were becoming too consistent to be chalked up to random illness or school duties. Combined with the information she'd gleaned about the Whomping Willow and its suspicious behavior, there was clearly more at play here.
