NTANDOKAYISE
"Okay, that's enough!" I put down the empty glass of shots. I'm never going out with these two again.
"Gosh, boss lady? You've gone boring." Tshilidzi says.
"She's different. What happened since we saw you at the graduation party?" Amy ask. These are my varsity friends. We attended varsity at CPUT and we had the best years of our lives. Amy and I were roommates while I did the same course as Tshilidzi.
"A lot happened." I don't feel like drinking. I've been feeling too depressed lately and since it's December, I invited my old friends for a reunion.
"Let's start with the man you posted on your Instagram account. He's so hot." Amy had dreamy eyes.
"Did he break your heart?" Tshilidzi, our sensible friend asks looking concerned.
"Something like that. Let's go dancing." I stood up and tried to make them stand as well but they just looked at me.
"If you're heartbroken then we are going back to the hotel. Who dares to break your heart?" Tshilidzi collects my bag and hers while we follow Amy outside. We came here in Amy's car.
"Guys, we are both drunk. We can't drive." Amy announces, like we don't know that already.
"I'll call a cab." Tshilidzi takes out her phone.
"It's fine. I'll call Alex." Amy says. Alex is her boyfriend who studied law and now he's doing his articles. He's so annoying because he can't stop speaking.
"Why him?" I groan.
"He's my boyfriend. At least he didn't dump me like yours." Why am I catching fire? Tshilidzi giggles.
"I dumped him first." They both laugh at me like I've lost my mind.
"Then why do you look this miserable?—Boo, can you come and fetch us? I've pinned the location. Thank you, you're the best." She hangs up.
"He's coming. Let's wait at the restaurant." There's a bar here and also a restaurant. We find a table and sit down.
"What happened between you and the hot guy you posted on Instagram a week ago?" Amy is the nosy friend who knows no boundaries.
"Ask him." I shrug her off. I'm not in the mood to speak or think about Muzi unless I'm drowning myself in liquor.
"Well too bad he's not here but I don't mind texting him on Insta. Tshi, what's his name again?" She already has her phone in her arms.
"I only know his surname. It's Zikhali." Tshilidzi replies nonchalantly.
"Amy you're not texting anyone." I snatch her phone away.
"I'll still text him later and swear at him because he left you looking so miserable it's no longer a joke."
"He lied to me and I ended everything. I came here for a break from everything and you're trying to snoop in things that don't even involve you!" I snap at her and stand up to head to the bathroom.
I wash my face as I feel tears flowing on my face. I feel so disappointed in myself because I don't know why I'm crying over him. It's been a week and sometimes I just want to pick up this phone and call even if it's just to listen to his voice.
Someone walks inside the bathroom and it's Amy.
"I'm sorry." We hug it out and I sob on her shoulder as she slowly rubs my back, soothingly. I finally let go of her when I feel like I've cried enough.
"Are you okay? Alex is outside." I nod repeatedly at her while she wipes my tears.
"You're presentable. Try to not look like your problem okay? You know Alex and you don't get along." I chuckle when she mentions her boyfriend.
"I'm going to slap him."
"Yoh." She's laughing. We walk hand in hand to the parking lot where Amy's car is with Alex in the driver's seat.
I get in the back with Tshilidzi and immediately stare outside of the window.
"Kay? You're not going to say hello?" He asks.
"Hello, Alexandra." His name is just Alex of course but I do this to annoy him.
"Jeez, what happened?" He starts driving.
"Don't ask boo," Amy says.
"She looks miserable. Is it because of a guy?" Why can't he just let it go? Amy did warn me not to look like my problems but I can't help it when I feel like life has been drained out of me.
"Alex, can you just shut up for a second? You're giving me a headache."
"So it's because of a guy? Wow. Who knew that the girl who broke my friend's heart would get heartbroken as well?" He chuckles.
"Liam was not my type. Still is not."
"Yeah well, your types hurt you." Why is he amused?
"Shut up!" Amy and I say at the same time.
"Karma exists Kay."
"Yeah, whatever." I'm blocking out this conversation.
"Imagine spending the December holidays crying over a boy? What an achievement." No, I'm done.
"Stop the car, I want to get off."
"You don't have to Kayise. Alex, I told you to play nice. Another word from you and I'm leaving your aṣs." Amy warns him. That gets his mouth shut.

The girls decided to do a sleepover last night and Tshilidzi being the cook she is, woke up before all of us to make a feast of breakfast. The table is full of dishes that I would never even think of cooking.
"This looks delici—" Due to a sudden smell of some dish, I ran to the bathroom after having an urge to vomit.
This is the worst part about a hangover, throwing up. I literally throw up all of the liquor in my system.
"Here." Tshilidzi offers a glass of water which I accept and take a sip to clean my mouth.
"Hand me the mouthwash please." She grabs it from the toiletries and passes it to me. I use it to rinse my mouth before standing up when I feel like my tongue no longer tastes like shıt.
I follow Tshilidzi back to the kitchen and find Amy already helping herself with the breakfast. Instead of having the English breakfast which is the main course of all these breakfasts, I grab the fruit salad and muesli.
"Didn't know that you're nursing your figure," Tshilidzi says.
"Not really, I'm just not feeling it. Amy, please apologise to Alex for me. I feel like I acted like a brat."
"Alex is always instigating people. Don't mind him."
We have breakfast while just reminiscing about all the varsity memories when we used to sneak out of our dorms to go partying. Being a daddy's girl, I used to handle the bill and we would drink like there was no tomorrow. I was such a player but I gave love a chance and I regret every bit of it.
