Earth. December 11th, 2023.
It was snowing hard outside.
Raven was sitting on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate as she munched on a jam square and watched Christmas movies. Mumma was in the kitchen making more Christmas goodies for the family. Da walked into the kitchen.
"Cookies!" Said Da.
Da took a cookie from the cooling rack and ate it. Mumma picked up a plate and put a cookie of each kind that she'd made on it and handed it to Da.
"Ah, thanks, sweets." Said Da.
"You're welcome. Now, I'll need space if you want more cookies." Said Mumma.
"I'm not in your way." Said Da forgetting just how wide his shoulders were once again.
"Hmm." Said Mumma.
Da eventually went into the living room and sat down on the couch next to Raven. Raven had been watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
"Has Yukon Cornelius shown up yet?" Asked Da.
"Not yet. I know he's your favorite." Said Raven.
"Well, doesn't he remind you of anyone?" Asked Da as he stroked his beard.
Raven giggled as she snuggled against Da.
"Where's Teddy?" Asked Raven.
"Got distracted drawing." Said Teddy as he walked in.
Mumma walked up to Teddy and handed him a small plate of cookies for him.
"Thank you, Mumma." Said Teddy.
Teddy sat down next to Raven and Da as they watched the movie.
As the hours went by, the snow began to lighten up outside.
"Hey, that bluff outside looked pretty good for sledding. Now we can actually use those sleds we got. What do you say?" Said Da.
"Sledding?! Yeah! Let's go!" Said Raven.
Raven jumped up and ran to grab her coat. Mumma walked out of the kitchen and went to Raven to help her bundle up. Mumma wrapped a scarf around Raven. Mumma held one of Raven's winter boots.
"One foot." Said Mumma.
Raven put her foot in the boot. Mumma held the other boot.
"Other foot." Said Mumma.
Raven put her other foot in the boot. Mumma helped tuck Raven's pant legs into the boots.
"All this work just to go outside?" Said Raven.
"Well, it's cold outside. Gotta keep the little pumpkin toasty warm." Said Mumma.
Raven smiled at her nickname as she pulled her pink hood over her head.
"Ready to go?" Asked Da.
"I am." Said Teddy as he put on his winter hat.
"Yep!" Said Raven.
Da, Teddy, and Raven went outside to the bluff. Da held a sled as he looked over the snow-covered bluff.
"Ah, your first time sledding. You're gonna love it!" Said Da.
Raven looked a little nervous.
"It looks further down now that I see it." Said Raven.
"Yeah." Said Teddy.
"Oh, relax, it'll be fine. I'm here if anything happens." Said Da.
Da put his hands on Teddy and Raven's shoulders.
