Teddy and Raven

Chapter 9

Earth, 2014.

Raven woke up in her bed on a bright summer morning. She smiled widely clutched her pink blanket close.

"It's my birthday!" Said Raven.

Raven jumped out of bed and peeked into Teddy's room to see if he was up. Teddy wasn't there. Raven went out into the main part of the house and saw Teddy, Mumma, and Da in the dining room as they cheered to Raven.

"Happy birthday!" They all said.

Raven smiled widely.

"Thank you! This is gonna be the best birthday ever!" Said Raven.

Teddy walked up and hugged Raven.

"So, how does it feel to be seven?" Asked Teddy.

Mumma walked up and mentally measured Raven next to Teddy.

"I think you got taller through the night." Said Mumma.

"Really?!" Asked Raven.

Suddenly, Da walked over and picked Raven up. Raven laughed as Da spun her around through the air.

Later that morning after eating breakfast, Raven smiled as she looked around at all the pink balloons around the dining room. Teddy sat down next to her.

"So, it is your special day. Any plans?" Said Teddy.

"I just want to spend my birthday with my family." Said Raven.

Mumma was listening from the kitchen as she was making Raven's birthday cake.

"Well, I think you're gonna like a big surprise coming today." Said Mumma.

Teddy smiled as he knew the surprise.

It wasn't long until the doorbell rang and Da got up to answer. After a few short moments, a lady who looked a lot like Mumma but with shorter hair turned the corner with a big smile.

"How's my seven year old baby girl?!" Asked the lady.

Raven's face lit up.

"Yaya!" Said Raven.

Yaya was Teddy and Raven's aunt who lived down south.

Raven ran up to Yaya and hugged her tightly.

"I didn't know you were coming!" Said Raven.

"I was able to get time off work to come up and visit." Said Yaya.

Yaya gave Raven a big hug before letting her go to hug Teddy.

"And how are you, baby boy?" Asked Yaya.

Teddy hugged Yaya.

"Great, Yaya." Said Teddy.

It wasn't long after that Mimi and Pipi arrived and came to hug Raven and wish her a happy birthday too.

Raven was beaming with joy as she got to spend her birthday with more of her family than expected.

As the day progressed, Da and Pipi were talking in the living room, Mumma was finishing up the cake, and Mimi and Yaya were sitting in the dining room with Teddy sitting between them and Raven sitting on Yaya's lap.

Raven snuggled against Yaya. Teddy hesitated before leaning against Yaya, and Yaya put an arm around Teddy too.

"Looks like they missed you." Said Mimi.

"This day couldn't get any better." Said Raven.

The doorbell rang again.

"Oh, don't tell me that's..." Said Mumma as she went to answer the door.
