It had always been a dream for you to have your own family, as it has for Taylor. You and Taylor had adopted your son three years ago, and it had been a dream come true the minute you walked in the door with him for the first time.
The moment you first brought Andrew home, was a moment you and Taylor would never forget. The moment you had met a Karen, along with your son would also be a moment you wouldn't forget. What happened was that while Taylor was at the studio all day, you and Andrew visited the park.
That day, Andrew wanted to go to the park, which wasn't far from your house at all and you agreed, knowing that getting some fresh air would do you both some good. However, Andrew wanted to go in his princess costume he had stolen from his cousin's house a couple weeks ago. At first, you weren't too keen on the idea, but when he started begging for you to let him wear it, you eventually cave in, no longer able to tell him no. When you got to the park, you had no idea of prying eyes watching as Andrew goes off to play with the other neighborhood kids.
You were sitting on one of the park benches when an elderly woman approaches you with a questionable look.
"Excuse me," she begins.
You look to her before giving a warm smile with your response.
"Yes? What can I do for you?"
"I was wondering, is that your son in the princes costume?"
"Yes. Yes, that's my son, Andrew." you say proudly.
Your smile drops the second the elderly woman speaks.
" What kind of mother are you?"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"What kind of mother are you? I'd say you're a bad one if you really make him dress that way."
Taken aback, you begin to politely try and tell her to back off.
"Listen, I don't have time for this. We need to get back."
"Do you even have someone to go back to?"
At this point, you feel more eyes on you as you try to defend you and Andrew.
"For your information, that costume belongs to his cousin. He snuck it home a couple of weeks ago and wanted to wear it before giving it back."
"And you let him?"
You don't say anything, but you give a glare.
"Right, that's what happened." She taunts, that was your final straw.
"Look lady, you need to back off and mind your business. What gives you the right to walk up to me about this? I don't know a damn thing about you, I've never met you, don't know you. You don't know me. Please, just leave us alone."
She continues pushing buttons.
"You know what I know? I know for a fact that child services should be called and notified of this."
That was it for you, you felt defeated while having nothing to say about that.
As luck would have it, the people around you started stepping in your defense and stuck up for you.
"Get out of here, Karen!" one guy shouts.
"You're not wanted here! Karen!"
"I spy a Karen who needs to leave!"
"Mind your own mother f****ing business!"
"Be gone!"
Much to your relief, the elderly woman, now known as Karen, obliged and walked away.
Your first Karen experience.
Wow.
Something for to tell Taylor about later.
