ALICIA

Setting everything back to the same way it was before, I walk out of the room. Sweat dripping at the back of my neck, face flushes and mind in pieces.

If there was a list mentioning every messed up event in my life, this would be on the top.

If Logan was Samantha's brother, how is he still alive? Did the people of The Castle take him away and somehow manage to convince his family that he was dead, the same way they did with Alex?
Logan knew Alex was alive. Why didn't he tell me? Considering the extensive research he had conducted, he knows about my brother. My. Brother.

So many questions roamed through my mind as I stand in the hallway. When suddenly - "Alicia! There you are!" I look up at Amelia, wondering if she knew this too. What if she was in on this too?
"Hey, do you know when Logan's returning?"

"Uhm, yeah. He'll be reaching sooner that expected. In fact- oh. There he is." She says, facing the source of screeching sounds.
I had no answers to any of the questions yet. For now, the best bet is to pretend nothing happened and go apologize.

"Amelia, fetch my employee files please." Logan says as he enters, eyes glued to his phone.

"Logan." I say, almost a breathy whisper.

He looks up, eyes as glittery as honey could be.

"Alicia." He responds, complementing my tone.

"Can we talk?" I ask.
"For as long as you'd like."

"Sir, here are the- Oh am I interrupting something?" Amelia asks, clearly flustered.

"Right, just one more thing sorted out and I promise I'll explain everything."

I acknowledge his request with a nod.

I had never been interested in business, nor will I ever be. But, my gut told me something was off. Guard number 1072 acquired. My mind kept trailing off to Alex. If he was alive, I need to meet him. Even if it meant going back to The Castle.

Snooping around my "roommate"/"guardian" would be morally wrong if said person didn't have secrets directly involving me and my previously presumed dead brother.

"How dare the two of you let him leave? Do you realize the danger we've put her in?" I hear Logan yell from the keyhole. His voice had never been so assertive previously and I didn't like it. Not just the tone of his voice, but the fact that he mentioned another female.
"We've put all hands on deck, the other candidates cannot have helped in any way. They're all...resting." said one of his helpers, flinching at Logan's mood.

"I know that. Oh my God, Giorgio. Scram before I stick a pipe down your throat." I chuckled at that statement. Logan couldn't bear the mention of white room torture after leaving The Castle, let alone physically tormenting a person.

I back away as footsteps near closer. Running to my room, I shut the door as quiet as possible. Why did he have a board of photos of my family? Why was Alex a part of whatever this was?

I hear knocks. Knocks on my door.

"Hey." Logan.

I hurry over to the door. Determined to get all the answers I need.

I creak the door open, hesitant at first. On the other hand, Logan pushes it open, missing my body by an inch while he runs and pulls me into a hug.

"I'm sorry." a voice break I'd never heard before.

I manage to hold back a tear, while my throat clumped up.

We sat on the opposite sides of the bed while Logan explained his side of the story. He knew I was being drugged, he knew all the cellmates were being drugged. But, he was helpless after all.
