Chapter 21: Indecision

ALICIA

It was impossible for me to try and find the location, or the source of the text without Logan. But, it wasn't safe, at all.
I decided to trust Logan, but not completely.
The things he told me might've convinced me to some extent, yet, I'm filled with unanswered questions.

Amelia comes to me, telling me that Logan had left again, some important work. Just then I hear glass shatter.
Amelia rushes to the origin of the sound and I get another text.

"Go to the study. It's unlocked, I'll distract the others."
I blindly follow the instructions given, something in me told me I had to.
I walk down the stairs, pieces of glass shattered on the floor. I pick one up, the glass was covering a tiny black piece of plastic. A camera.
Of course the house and my phone were bugged.
Whoever sent the text, definitely wanted to help me. Maybe it was Logan, who knows maybe the people of The Castle are still around.

I go to the study and see a phone along with a bunch of files. I keep the phone aside, probably Logan's.
I take the files, the one on the top was labelled 'Employee list'. I skim through the pages, looking for any piece of paper inserted into it. Nothing.
I start looking through the pages, all the employees had a resumé.

There were certain names that stood out the most,

'Samuel Giorgio', 'Dave Brown', 'Max Sanchéz', 'Alex Winston', 'Amelia Rose'.

I recognized all of them.

Giorgio was the person with Logan in the study, the one that got yelled at today, Dave was in The Castle, right outside the "haunted room".
Max was the guy that almost raped me before Logan saved me.
Alex, my brother. Amelia, the one with me.
There was a signature below their resumés,

C.E.O. Logan Green.

The phone also had a notification, I switched the phone on,
"Go to the study, it's unlocked. I'll distract the others."

That's the text I got.
My phone was cloned onto this one.
Why was it with Logan? Did he-

The door bursts open, a panting man outside the room. Eyes teary, shirt stained with blood. The gun in his hand drops as he sees me.
Limping, he rushes over to me and pulls me into the warmest hug I'd ever felt.

"Alex." I breathe out in a shaky voice.

"I'm sorry for being late." He replies, voice hoarse.

I shake my head, pulling away. He cups my face and plants a hurried kiss on my forehead. "I have to tell you something urgent. It's about Logan. He's not who you think-"

"I know." I reply.

I didn't want him to elaborate. It was obvious Logan had lied to me the entire time. I don't know what's going on, but I know it's bad.

"Fuck okay, Alicia, listen.
Logan may hurt you, but will never kill you. He needs you. They're going to be back soon, there is no time for us to run. They'll catch up with us within a few hours.
Instead, I want you to keep this phone with you. Don't. Ever. Tell anyone else about it."

With that Alex runs off.

I leave the study room and enter the main hall. Amelia is tied to a chair, blood dripping from her forehand. mouth sealed shut, yet blood oozes down her shirt, staining it. Eyes filled with innocence.
