"What do you wanna do today?"
"I don't know, sit in and study?"
"Nerd."
"I find that word rather amusing."
"Just- just have breakfast.."

I do as said. The breakfast was rather plain. Naan with cheese wasn't really what I'd prefer on a daily basis. The quality was dropping on a concerning rate.

Not looking forward to going anywhere, even if on a weekend, was kind of irritating.

"What do you have in mind?" I ask.

"Huh?"

"Are we going anywhere today?"

"I thought you were planning on studying?"

"Oh. Right, yeah."

"I've got work so I won't be here. I trust you to not run away."

He leaves the room shooting a tiny salute through the slightly open door.
I quickly take my notepad and try figuring out what his tattoo was.

It definitely was one of them. Not like I could find the meaning of anything, well, curiosity definitely kills the cat.

I gave up after a while and took a random book I found nearby and started flipping through it. Greek mythology had always piqued my interest, however, reading about the complications in the history always ended with me having a brain fog.

The page talked about Theseus, as much of a hero that he was, his life - at least for me - was a very controversial topic.

Regardless of how strong and heroic he was, he was still kind of an ass.
Along with most of the Gods and Demigods that existed, Theseus was also a womanizer.
To get to his birth father, King Aegus, he was provided two routes, the sea route - the safer and easier one and the land route - the more dangerous one. Him, being the hero that he was, chose the land route.

Crossing the land route was a challenge, passing the six entrances to the underworld, or the "six labours" was no easy task. Yet, he managed to clear his way through.

Along the way, he killed one of the enemies Sinis and decided to seduce the dead dude's daughter Perigune (Pergenia) and fathered a child.
Apart from that, it was said that he had seduced a bunch of other women and they had kids too.

Apparently re-uniting with his birth father Aegus could've been his main motive. Yet, making a woman bear his kids after he killed her parent, was just him being a condescending ass. His achievements may have made him a hero to the rest of the world. But, just like Zeus and his brother Poseidon, ultimately he was also "just a man" with his fascinating fantasies that, almost always, revolved around women.

Exhausted by the brain fuck, I decide to take a nap. Drifting to dreamland, I realize that my dreams are getting more disturbing than ever. Ma, showered in blood, was something I wouldn't have fancied in the next few centuries.

Her beautiful green eyes had been gouged out by some maniac, her ears - cut off. It also looked like her hair was ripped off in places Pa hadn't already. And even then. Even then she was telling me to be careful. Careful of who I trust. My disfigured mother was telling her physical capable daughter to be careful. Ironic.

She comes closer to me, properly, this time.
Her thin, pale hands holding my cheek. Her wrinkled lips trying its best to form a crooked smile, at best.
"Happy birthday, my sunshine."
She was the only one who'd remember it.
