The jump.

"They are jumping." Beatrice said as she stood on the edge of the doorway on the train, her long, blonde, silky hair waving in the wind.

I stood up and looked outside, to see dauntless horns and transfers jumping onto a gravel covered roof, where current dauntless members were waiting for us.

Christina looked at me and tris, and nodded, grabbing out hands. "Together?" She asked. "Together." Me and tris said in sync as we took a step back, preparing to run up.

Within a second of jumping, my legs hit the gravel, pain seething through my bones. A few Initiates stood at the train door, watching us as they went past. They failed to jump. They were faction less.

"Oh my god! I just jumped off a moving tr-" Christina exclaimed, but quickly being cut off by a man standing on the edge of the building. "Gather in initiates, gather in." He said, waving us in.

I gawked at the sight of him. He had to metallic piercings above his left eye. He had oceanic, sky-blue, mesmerising eyes that pierced through you when he looked at you. He had a tall, muscular build, his frame making you feel small in weak. He had silky blonde hair that sat thickly on top of his head. He had multiple tattoos slithering out of his coat collar, though I couldn't make out what they were.

His eyes locked with mine for a brief second before going back to scanning the crowd. It made me blush.

"I'm Eric, one of your leaders here. Jumping off a moving train, you might have thought was a task with great difficulty, but your wrong. That's an activity for dauntless born toddlers, down in the compound. The only way into said compound, is by jumping off this ledge." He stated, his voice sending me gazing through stars.

"Is there something at the bottom?" An erudite boy asked. "What's down there?" An amity girl questioned. Eric just stared at the crowd, letting the questions fire at him. He seemed unbothered.

"Okay everyone shut up now." He paused. "The answers to your question lies down there, so who's gonna be our first jumper?" He asked and everyone paused; before the crowd opened, leaving Beatrice standing there. "I'll do it." She said, her stance becoming confident and cocky.

She walked towards the ledge, taking off her grey abnegation jacket. An erudite boy named Peter joked, "yeah stiff take it off!" But when he realised she was serious, he murmured, "put it back on.."

Beatrice stood for a minute, Eric becoming impacting. "Today initiate." He sighed, and for Beatrice. That was her queue.

She jumped.

You could hear her screams vaguely as she went down, and it seemed like forever as we waited.

Eric asked for a second and I volunteered, pulling myself up on the ledge.

"You sure amity should be dressed like that?" Someone scowled from the crowd, looking at my tank top and leggings, with no dress to top it off.

"Shut up you dickhead. She's dauntless now, that's what she picked." He said, giving me a smirk as I jumped, my long brown locks gliding as I screamed.

When I reached the bottom, a muscular, deep voiced man helped me off the netting that I landed on.

My back was aching as I got off, and he gave me a glare.

"Name?" He asked and I just paused. "You can pick another one but you can't change it, so pick wisely." He stated, but I didn't want to change my name.

"Charlotte. My original name." I said, my stance composed and confident.

He smiled at me, and shouted. "Second jumper! Charlotte!" He said, his deep voice causing the crowd to cheer with excitement and proudness.

Once everyone had jumped, including Eric. We were led down dull hallways by Eric and four, who didn't even glance at each other. I don't think they liked each other very much.

"This is where you will be staying." Four said, bringing me out of my daze. I stared in disgust.

There were ten wooden bunk beds with thin mattresses and a very thin blanket and pillow on top of them. There was a drawer next to everyone.

"Where will we be sleeping?" A girl asked. Four looked at her stupid. "Here. Boys and girls will be sharing a room this year. But if you hate this you will love the bathroom." He said, leading us to a separate room in the bedroom. There were two showers in the middle, covered by a partially see through curtain that gave you 'privacy' while you were showering and a long row of toilets. There was a long row of sinks at the other side of the room, lined up just like the toilets.

I sighed. This was going to be fun. Really really fun.
