I went to bed early that night, skipping the first dinner as a dauntless initiate.
When I laid down my back throbbed, as my almost bare back skimmed the bed sheet. I yelped as I slowly laid my head on the pillow, resting my aching body.
I sobbed for what felt like forever, letting out every bit of anger I had on my tears.
I didn't want anyone to see my this so when I heard noises outside the dorm, I wiped my eyes, before shutting them. I heard Tris next to me, sitting down on her bed, she was talking to Christina about a leader that she interacted with at dinner.
Eric, she mentioned the name Eric.
That was the last name I heard before I drifted off to sleep, letting my tiredness take hold of me.

"Get up initiates, first day of training so DONT be late." A man shouted from outside the room, he sounded familiar, but I couldn't make out who it was. I shrugged and climbed out of bed.
My limbs and most importantly my back were feeling better, with not as much aching involved.
I put on some leggings and a tank top, with a thick woolly jacket and some running boots. I stepped outside the dorm and into the dining room where I saw a huge crowd of dauntless. Tris waved me over and I obliged to her request, sitting between her and Christina.
"Hey guys." I whispered, biting into the toast that Tris had got me from the kitchen. As it slid down my throat I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Initiate." He said as I turned around. He had cold, icy blue eyes with a piercing glare. He had the top of his eyebrows pierced and his build was huge.
"Yeah?" I asked quietly.
"Why weren't you at the talk last night? When we called your name out you weren't there. Stiff told me you went to sleep. Is that true?" He asked, his glare tightening around me, his hand still on my shoulder.
I shuddered and gulped as I only just managed to get some words out of my nervous mouth. "Sorry sir. I was tired and I wasn't very hungry. If I had known there was a talk I would have been here, I promise." I stated, fixing my eyes on him confidently.
"Very well then. But don't do it again. Dauntless talks aren't scheduled, so be prepared." He said, not even fixing a polite smile at me as he walked off. I touched my shoulders where his hands had been. He had warm, large hands.

When we reached the training room, four, our instructor led us up a flight of stairs and onto a roof. I felt the breeze in my face as I looked at the blue sky, small patches of clouds forming over certain parts of the city.
Un built guns lay on tables, with our names engraved on them. I found mine and looked in front of me. Standing quite a bit away was a target. Were we shooting a gun?
"Initiates today we will be learning how to use a gun. Here in dauntless you get your own when you pass initiation, or if you pass initiation. Therefore it is vital that you learn how to use one before somebody ends up dead!" Four stated, walking up and down so everyone could hear his speech.
"I want you to assemble the gun and shoot the target. You have enough bullets to reload at-least 3 times, so I want you to shoot the target until your gun is physically unable to anymore. Is that clear initiates?" He said, his eyes locking with mine for a moment.
I blushed. He gave us a nod of approval as we turned around and began assembling our guns. When dauntless came to amity, I used to watch them assemble guns, so I was a pro at this.
I managed to assemble my gun before everyone else and began shooting. I hit the outer ring on my first go, before I felt warm hands on my waist.
Eric.
"Your stance is off initiate." He said, twisting my body slightly. "Stand like this and bend your elbows slightly." He said, and I did just that. He nodded for me to begin and I did just that, hitting the bullseye first time.
I squeezed, hitting the bullseye every go after that.

When we got back to the dining hall, the score board was already up, my name sitting proudly in second place behind a dauntless born named Uriah. I smiled as tris and Christina squeezed me, congratulating me on my success.
Tris however, was dead last.
Tomorrow was fighting, and if she couldn't even shoot a gun pretty close range, then how could she fight people almost twice the size of her. And me? I was small, and so was she.

When we got back to the dorm, I got dressed and got straight into bed, closing my eyes without batting an eye.
It didn't take me long to fall into a deep slumber.
