“Thank you, Mama,” she said softly after finishing her breakfast. “I’ll see you later!”

“Be good, my darling,” Sofia called as Angel stepped out the door.

The brightness of the morning sun made Angel squint as she emerged from the house. Her blonde hair danced in the breeze, and her heart felt light, almost as if she could float.

In front of her house stood a luxurious black car, its glossy surface reflecting the sunlight.

The driver, a tall man dressed in a sharp black suit, stood stiffly beside the vehicle.

When he saw Angel came out of her house, he moved quickly to open the back door for her.

He didn’t look at her directly, his face impassive and distant. Beneath the mask of professionalism, however, Angel couldn't see the dangerous edge on him.

This man wasn’t just a driver, he was one of the most lethal and ruthless men in Lucifer's circle, his hands stained with blood from deeds he could never wash away.

Angel hesitated for a moment, clutching the strap of her bag.

“Um... thank you,” she said softly as she slipped into the back seat.

The driver didn’t respond. He simply closed the door behind her, his movements precise and practiced.

Inside the car, Angel sat quietly, her hands resting on her lap. The cool leather seats felt luxurious, almost too much for someone like her. She turned her attention to the window, watching as the city began to unfold around her.

Her wide, curious eyes took in everything, the children walking hand in hand with their parents, the shopkeepers setting up their displays, and the commuters rushing to catch their buses.

The laughter of a passing group of friends, the sound of a street musician playing a cheerful tune, the aroma of fresh coffee wafting through the air, all of it felt so new, so vibrant.

It was a world so full of life and energy, a stark contrast to the dark, empty existence she’d once known.

For so long, her life had been a cycle of pain and survival. She’d been stripped of her dignity, her voice, and her will to dream. But now, everything was different. Mr. Knight had changed everything.

For the first time, Angel felt like she was part of something bigger, something real.

Angel wasn’t comfortable with any man. Even sitting in the car with the driver felt uneasy. But with Lucifer, it was different. He made her feel safe, protected, something she had never felt before.

He was the reason she was here, in this car, heading toward a future that felt like a gift. She didn’t fully understand his kindness or his patience with her, but she didn’t need to. To her, he was like an angel, gentle, protective, and unwavering in his support.

Lucifer had gone on a business trip for the past week. Today, he was coming back, and though she didn’t want to admit it, Angel found herself eagerly awaiting his return.

She leaned her head against the window, a soft smile gracing her lips. Her heart felt light, and for the first time in her life, she allowed herself to hope.
