Angelica stared at the ceiling while lying on the bed, tossing and turning, thinking about how her life had changed.

As her alarm went off, she stood up and made her way toward the bathroom. After a quick shower, she changed into clothes for her interview.

She headed toward the kitchen and began preparing breakfast: bacon, toast, and tea.

"Good morning, honey," Sofia, her adoptive mother, greeted her.

"Good morning, Mom. Breakfast is almost done."

Sofia came over and gave her a hug before they made their way to the dining room with their plates.

"Honey, are you prepared for your interview?" Mom asked, sipping her coffee.

"Mom, I’m just nervous," Angelica admitted, her gaze fixed on her plate, her appetite suddenly lost.

She didn’t have a degree, and it was a very big company. Her experience was limited to a part-time job, nothing substantial. With her mom’s influence, Angelica had gotten the opportunity for the interview, and she didn’t want to disappoint her.

Sofia placed her hand on Angelica’s and said, "Darling, don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll get this job. Now, don’t be nervous—smile and eat your breakfast."

Angelica looked up at her with blurry eyes. "Thank you, Mom, for everything," she said, managing a smile.

Sofia had always been her rock. Without her, Angelica didn’t know where she’d be. She was thankful to God for sending her into her life.

Once breakfast was finished, Angelica grabbed her bag and made her way toward the door. Sofia came over and gave her a tight hug, a big smile on her face.

"Good luck, honey. Don’t be nervous," she said.

"Thank you, Mom. Bye," Angelica replied, heading out the door and toward the cab.

She gave the driver the address. It was a 20-minute ride, and as they arrived, Angelica couldn't believe her eyes.

"Oh my god!!!" she whispered to herself.

The building was a massive glass structure, gleaming in the morning sunlight. The sleek, modern design was like something straight out of a high-end architectural magazine. The building’s windows stretched high, giving a view of the bustling city beneath, reflecting the world outside like a mirror. Angelica stood there for a few moments, debating with herself whether to go in or not.

"I have to do this for Mom," she told herself, taking a deep breath as she made her way toward the entrance. Inside, everyone wore formal clothes and looked tense. She walked to the reception, where the lady gave her a strange look, probably due to her attire.

"H-hello, my name is A-Angelica Anderson," Angelica stuttered.

The receptionist typed something on her computer and said without looking up, "27th floor."

Angelica gave her a confused look but headed toward the elevator. The elevator was massive, with glass walls offering a breathtaking view of the city.

*Ding.

As the doors opened to the 27th floor, Angelica stepped out into an office beyond her wildest imagination. The space was expansive, designed with modern minimalism in mind. Polished marble floors reflected the soft overhead lights, and sleek glass walls offered a view of the entire city. The air was cool, the faint scent of leather from the elegant furniture mingling with the faint scent of coffee. A large conference table made of dark wood sat in the middle of the room, surrounded by black leather chairs.
