On Monday morning, in the office of the Criminal Police Brigade of City A, a girl with shoulder-length hair was sitting at her desk, her ten fingers rapidly tapping on the computer keyboard. Although her eyes were blocked by the shadow of her thick bangs, her tightly pursed lips still showed her concentration at the moment.
"Gu Xiaofan!"
Suddenly, someone shouted the girl's name loudly. At the same time, someone patted her shoulder heavily. The girl was startled, her hands trembled, and a few incomprehensible words suddenly appeared on the document on the screen.
Gu Xiaofan sighed, deleted the extra words, and looked up at his colleague Han Lele who had sneaked up behind him at some point. He sighed helplessly and said, "Lele, you must have been a cat in your previous life. You walked without making any sound, and you especially liked to jump out suddenly to scare people."
Han Lele is Gu Xiaofan's colleague. One of them is an office worker in the criminal police team, and the other is an outdoor worker. Although there are some differences in their work content, it has not affected the two girls from becoming good sisters in the criminal police team where men are more powerful than women.
"It's said that Monday is the day when people's enthusiasm for work is the lowest. Why are you different from normal people?" Han Lele sat at Gu Xiaofan's table with her chin in her hand. "What are you busy with so early in the morning?"
"Write my personal year-end work summary." Gu Xiaofan continued typing.
"I remember that you had almost finished writing your year-end work summary last weekend. Why are you writing it again?" Han Lele asked curiously.
"It's not mine, it's... Oh, never mind, let's not talk about this. Lele, do you want to talk to me about something?"
"Yes, Ni Ran and I heard that our brigade's field staff will be transferred a new person. I wonder if he will be a handsome guy. When he comes, he will definitely work in the same office with you. Remember to inform us!" Han Lele said to Gu Xiaofan with a gossipy look on his face.
Ni Ran is another clerk police officer in the Criminal Police Brigade. He works in the same office as Han Lele and is also Gu Xiaofan's classmate in college, so the three of them are usually close.
"Oh." Gu Xiaofan hadn't heard of any new people being transferred in, nor did he have the leisure to be curious about a completely unrelated stranger. He agreed to Han Lele verbally, but the only thing in his mind was the work summary that needed to be written quickly.
"By the way, didn't you go to a classmate's wedding this weekend and serve as a bridesmaid? How did you feel about that?" Han Lele didn't notice that Gu Xiaofan was absent-minded towards her. After asking her to help keep an eye on the newlyweds, she also started to show concern for Gu Xiaofan's weekend life.
When asked about this, Gu Xiaofan's face immediately turned as bitter as a gourd. He waved his hands and sighed, "It's too painful to look back on. My body and mind have been hurt. If you have any sympathy, don't ask me!"
"Okay, I won't ask anymore. You are busy and I'll go back first!" When Han Lele saw Gu Xiaofan like this, she quickly raised her hands in surrender with a smile and slipped back to her office.
Gu Xiaofan sighed and continued to focus on the half-written work summary. She had a terrible weekend, which was both humiliating and embarrassing. As an older single woman, she was easily swayed by others' coaxing and ran to be a bridesmaid. As a bridesmaid, she had to block the wine for the bride, and in the end she was drunk and vomited all over the place. After returning home, she felt dizzy and her parents kept pulling her ears and asking her why others could get married but she couldn't. In the end, the work summary that should have been completed was also delayed until now.
