The evening air was cool as Maya and Ayaan entered the exclusive cinema hall, where a 3D horror movie was set to play. Ayaan had arranged for an entire private screening—just for the two of them. Maya, though excited, couldn't shake the nervousness that had settled in her stomach. She wasn't exactly a fan of horror movies, especially ones designed to scare you out of your wits.

As they walked down the plush corridor, Ayaan flashed her a teasing grin. "You sure you want to do this, Maya? It's not for the faint of heart."

Maya bit her lip, trying to steady her nerves. "I’ll be fine,” she lied, though her voice trembled slightly. “It's just a movie."

Ayaan's laughter echoed softly as he led her into the dimly lit screening room, where two luxurious seats awaited them at the center of the room. The only sounds were the faint hum of the air conditioning and the rustle of their footsteps on the carpet as they settled in.

Maya fidgeted, unsure where to place her hands. She had always been the type to sit quietly during a movie, but she knew this one would be different. Especially with Ayaan sitting beside her.

Before the movie began, Ayaan leaned toward her, his voice low and teasing. "You know, you can hold my hand if you get scared. I won’t bite," he said with a playful wink.

Maya rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress the flutter in her chest. "I’m not scared," she said, though she could already feel the tightening in her stomach as the lights dimmed and the movie started.

The screen flickered to life, and eerie music filled the room, setting the stage for the horror to come. Maya quickly realized that Ayaan was right: this movie was designed to get under your skin. The 3D effects made the monsters feel close enough to touch, and the chilling, unexpected scenes had her jumping in her seat.

Ayaan, sitting next to her, noticed her reaction instantly. He smirked. "You sure you're not scared, Maya?" he whispered, watching as she instinctively clutched the armrest, her knuckles turning white.

The first jump scare came—something lurked in the shadows on screen, and before Maya could react, a loud shriek echoed from the surround sound speakers.

She gasped, her body jolting in fright. Without thinking, her hand shot out, grabbing Ayaan’s arm. Her fingers gripped it tightly as her heart raced, her breath coming in sharp bursts.

Ayaan's lips curled into a sly smile as he glanced down at her hand wrapped around his arm. He could feel her pulse through his skin, and he couldn’t resist teasing her a little more.

"Careful, Maya," he whispered, his voice soft yet laced with amusement. "I might think you’re using this as an excuse to hold my hand."

Maya’s face flushed in embarrassment, but she didn’t let go. The movie continued with more heart-stopping moments, and Maya kept clutching Ayaan’s arm, her grip becoming firmer with each frightening scene. Every time a shadowy figure appeared on the screen, her hand tightened, and Ayaan chuckled softly, enjoying the way she reacted to the tension.

"You're really not good at this, are you?" Ayaan teased, leaning closer to her. His voice was calm, almost soothing, as he tried to steady her nerves.

"I hate horror movies!" Maya exclaimed, her voice filled with mock indignation, though her fingers remained firmly entwined with his. “Why would anyone want to watch this?”

Ayaan chuckled softly. “Maybe you should take my advice and hold onto me tighter. It might make the scares less... terrifying.”

Maya rolled her eyes but couldn't deny the comfort she felt in his presence. His teasing and the warmth of his hand made her feel more at ease, even if the movie still had her on edge.
