The heavy downpour of rain splattered against the windows, the sound of the storm echoing throughout the mansion. Maya was pacing nervously in their bedroom, her breath shallow and uneven, her heart pounding with each wave of pain that rippled through her body. It was as if the entire world had come to a halt, and only the intense ache in her belly existed.

"Maya!" Ayaan’s voice cracked with worry as he rushed to her side, his hands trembling as he tried to steady her. He could see the discomfort on her face, her eyes squeezed shut with each contraction.

"It's okay... it’s okay..." Ayaan murmured, though he could feel his own panic creeping in. Maya's hand clutched his, squeezing it tight with the next wave of pain, her breath coming in short bursts.

"I—I need to go to the hospital, Ayaan. It’s time," Maya gasped through the pain, her voice shaky.

Ayaan’s heart skipped a beat. It’s time. He hadn't expected it to come so soon, not with everything that had happened. But now, seeing the look of distress in Maya’s eyes, there was no doubt that their baby was coming.

His heart thudded in his chest as he rushed around, gathering their things, before lifting Maya gently into his arms. "Hold on tight, Maya. We're going to get you to the hospital. Everything’s going to be fine."

But as they made their way toward the car, the storm outside worsened. The roads were slick with rain, and every turn felt like they were driving through a torrent of water. Maya gripped Ayaan’s hand tightly, her pain worsening with each passing minute. He could feel the tension in her body, the fear, and he hated seeing her like this—so vulnerable, so fragile. But he couldn’t lose her, not now.

"I’m here, Maya. I’m right here," Ayaan reassured her, but inside, he was a mess. He had always been the one in control—ruthless, cold, unbending—but now? Now he felt like he was fighting against an invisible force, helpless to stop the obstacles that kept coming in their path.

The traffic on the road had completely stopped. Cars were backed up for miles, the streets clogged with stalled vehicles as the rain poured down relentlessly. Ayaan gritted his teeth, his knuckles white on the steering wheel as he slammed the horn in frustration.

"Maya," he whispered, looking over at her, his face pale. "I’m going to get you there. Just stay with me, okay? Don’t—don’t do this to me."

Maya barely responded, her body wracked with pain. Every contraction seemed to hit harder than the last, and she clenched her fists, trying not to scream. Tears welled up in her eyes, her body trembling from exhaustion and fear.

Ayaan’s mind raced. The hospital was so close, but the roadblock seemed like an insurmountable obstacle. His gaze flicked to the side, desperate for a solution, and that’s when he saw it—the side street that would take them to the back of the hospital, cutting through the chaos of traffic.

Without hesitation, Ayaan jerked the car to the side, narrowly avoiding another vehicle. He drove down the narrow street, his speed increasing, his mind completely focused on Maya and their baby. Every second felt like a lifetime as he fought through the rain and the slippery roads.

"Maya, stay with me," Ayaan said, his voice tight with emotion. He could see she was fading, her face pale, her breaths shallow. He cursed under his breath, his heart in his throat.

At last, the hospital came into view, but just as they approached the entrance, the car slid on the slick road, fishtailing for a brief moment. Ayaan's heart lurched in his chest as he fought to regain control of the vehicle. Maya’s cries of pain pierced through the tension in the car, and Ayaan pushed the pedal to the floor, rushing toward the hospital entrance.

The moment the car came to a stop in front of the emergency entrance, Ayaan was out in a flash, his heart hammering in his chest. He opened Maya’s door, his hands shaking as he helped her out. She leaned against him, her face pale and drenched with sweat, but she was still fighting, still holding on. He was there, she knew that.

The hospital staff rushed out to meet them, and within seconds, they had Maya on a stretcher, rushing her inside. Ayaan didn’t let go of her hand, his grip tight, his face set with determination.

"Maya, please… stay with me. I can’t lose you," he whispered as they wheeled her into the delivery room.

The pain on Maya’s face only intensified, but she managed a weak smile as she turned her head to look at him.

"I’m here, Ayaan. Don’t worry. We’ll be okay… we will," Maya whispered through her gritted teeth.

Ayaan stayed by her side, holding her hand as the nurses and doctors worked around her, doing everything they could to ease her pain and get her through the delivery. His heart was racing with fear, but his eyes never left her, never wavered. No matter what, he wouldn’t let her go. Not now, not ever.

And then, amidst all the chaos and pain, a new life was brought into the world—a child that symbolized not only their love, but their strength.
