Jungkook - "Y/N, I need that report by 4 p.m. sharp. Don’t make me repeat myself."Y/N nodded, fingers moving swiftly on the keyboard as she typed up the last of the data. She had heard that tone before—authoritative, cold, direct—but today it felt different. There was an edge to it that made her heart race in a way she couldn't explain.
Her thoughts kept drifting back to him as she finished the task. Jungkook, the powerful CEO, had always been distant. His sharp gaze never wavered from the task at hand, and his demeanor was always perfectly controlled. But today, something about the way he looked at her had made her stomach flutter.
As Y/N finished the report, she quickly stood and took the folder to his office. She hesitated before entering, feeling a strange anticipation as she opened the door.
Y/N - "Here’s the report, sir."
Jungkook barely glanced at it before meeting her gaze. His eyes were intense, as if he was searching for something beyond the usual efficiency she showed.
Jungkook - "Good job," he said, his voice unusually soft.
Y/N’s heart skipped. It wasn’t much, but coming from him, it felt significant.
Y/N - "Thank you, sir." She managed to keep her voice steady, but she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks.
Jungkook didn’t say anything further. His gaze lingered for a moment before he dismissed her with a wave of his hand.
Jungkook - "You’re free to go."
Y/N left his office, her mind racing. There was something about the way he had looked at her. Had she imagined it?
Later That Afternoon:
Y/N sat at her desk, trying to focus on her work, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Jungkook. He had been so distant before, but now there was a subtle shift in the air. The tension between them felt heavier than usual.
When her phone buzzed, she was startled to see a message from him.
Jungkook - "Bring the report to my office now."
She grabbed the folder, her heart pounding. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was about to change.
When she entered his office, Jungkook was standing by the window, his posture commanding as always. He turned to her as she entered, locking eyes.
Y/N - "Here’s the updated report, sir."
For a long moment, he didn’t speak. He simply looked at her. His expression was unreadable, but there was something in his eyes that made her heart beat faster.
Jungkook - "You’ve done well," he said quietly.
Y/N blinked. That was the first time he’d praised her so directly. She wasn’t used to him being so...personal.
Y/N - "Thank you, sir."
He gave a brief nod, then turned his attention back to his work.
Jungkook - "You’re free to go."
Later That Evening:
Y/N was in the break room when she heard the familiar sound of footsteps approaching. She didn’t need to look up to know who it was. His presence filled the room before he even spoke.
Jungkook - "I need to talk to you about something."
She turned, her heart beating faster. The cool, detached Jungkook was now standing before her, his expression softer than usual.
Y/N - "What’s it about, sir?"
He stepped closer, his gaze intense.
Jungkook - "There’s a meeting tomorrow. I need someone sharp to help me prepare. Are you free?"
Y/N’s stomach fluttered. Sharp? Was he acknowledging her work ethic, or was this something more?
Y/N - "I’m free. I’ll help however I can."
He seemed to study her for a moment, before his usual cold demeanor returned.
Jungkook - "Good. I’ll see you tommorow."
Later That Night:
Back at her apartment, Y/N couldn’t stop thinking about the day’s events. Jungkook had been different today—so much more aware of her than usual. Why? Was it just her imagination? She pulled out her phone and scrolled through her messages.
Just then, her phone buzzed again. It was from him.
Jungkook - "You don’t have to stay late. We’ll finish the presentation part of the meeting tomorrow, while we will be preparing for the meeting ."
Her heart skipped. Why was he telling her this? Did he care about her well-being, or was he just being considerate?
Y/N took a deep breath. No matter what, she had to stay focused on her work.
