Since the kiss they shared in the office that night, Jungkook had been walking around with his mind in a haze. His feelings for Y/N had always been difficult to define, but now, with the confession still lingering in the air, it felt like everything had changed. The way he looked at her—there was a tenderness now, a softness in his eyes he hadn’t realized existed before. Every time she laughed, every time she met his gaze, he felt a tug in his chest. It was no longer just about attraction. He had fallen for her, and there was no denying it.
The thought of her dating someone else, the mere idea of her with another man, left him feeling a familiar sting of jealousy. But this time, it wasn’t fleeting. This feeling had deep roots now, roots he didn’t want to ignore.
Y/N sat at her desk, going through the motions of work as usual, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Jungkook. The kiss. The confession. Her heart fluttered whenever she remembered his words, the way he had said them so quietly, yet so deeply. "I care about you, Y/N. More than I’ve cared about anyone." Those words repeated in her mind, over and over.
But now, sitting in the same room with him, she wasn’t sure how to act. Her feelings were no longer a secret to herself, but now... she had to face them. Jungkook was no longer just her boss, no longer just the man she admired from afar. He was someone who had shown her a side of himself that made her heart race—someone who made her feel like she was seen, truly seen, in ways no one else had ever done.
Jungkook watched her from across the room, unable to focus on his work. Every time he glanced up, his eyes found hers, and something about the way she looked at him made his heart flutter. There was a warmth in her gaze now, something that felt like an unspoken invitation.
He stood up, pushing his chair back with a soft scrape, and walked over to where Y/N was sitting. She looked up at him as he approached, her expression a little guarded, a little uncertain.
Jungkook - “You’ve been quiet today. Everything alright?”
His voice was soft, but there was a new tenderness in it, a gentleness he hadn’t shown before. His hand brushed against her desk as he leaned in a little closer, his presence commanding yet warm. Y/N met his gaze, her heart skipping a beat.
Y/N - “Yeah, I’m fine, sir. Just... thinking.”
She was nervous, the words coming out a little too quickly. She couldn’t help it. She had been avoiding looking directly at him, afraid that if she did, the floodgates would open and her feelings would spill out uncontrollably.
Jungkook could sense her hesitation, and something inside him shifted. He placed a hand gently on the edge of her desk, his fingers almost brushing hers. The touch was light, but it sent a spark through her, a wave of warmth that spread from her fingertips to her chest.
Jungkook - “You’re thinking about the other night, aren’t you?”
Y/N blinked, startled by his words. She swallowed hard, but Jungkook didn’t seem to be angry or upset. In fact, he was watching her with an intensity that made her heart race.
Y/N - “I—Yes, I... I’ve been thinking a lot, actually.”
Jungkook smiled, a small, knowing smile. He took a step closer, his hand now resting just beside hers, the proximity making her pulse quicken.
Jungkook - “You don’t have to say anything if you’re not ready. But you’re not the only one who’s been thinking, Y/N.”
Y/N’s breath caught in her throat. His voice, soft but steady, was doing things to her that she couldn’t quite explain. She had never been one to feel this way, especially around him. But the truth was, she felt drawn to him, more than she had ever felt with anyone before.
Y/N finally gathered the courage to speak. She took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly as she placed them on her lap. She had kept this hidden for so long, and now, the time had come to say it out loud.
Y/N - “I... I like you too, Jungkook.”
The words hung in the air for a moment before sinking in. Jungkook’s heart stuttered in his chest, and his eyes softened as he processed her words. She felt the shift in him—a weight lifting, his expression melting into something more vulnerable. His hand, still resting beside hers, slowly inched closer, his fingers brushing against hers with deliberate slowness.
Jungkook - “You do?”
Y/N nodded, her breath shaky. She felt exposed, but somehow, it felt freeing to finally admit it. Jungkook didn’t pull away, though. He simply smiled, his eyes glowing with something that made her stomach flip. He slid his fingers between hers, intertwining their hands. The warmth of his touch sent a shiver down her spine, and she couldn’t help but lean in a little closer, her face flushing.
Jungkook - “I’m glad to hear that, Y/N. I think I’ve known for a while.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise, and Jungkook chuckled softly, the sound rich and deep. He gently tugged her hand, pulling her up from her seat, until they were standing face-to-face.
Without a word, Jungkook cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs brushing across her cheeks as he gazed down at her with an intensity that made her heart race. She stood frozen for a moment, her eyes searching his for any sign of doubt, but there was none. He leaned in slowly, his lips brushing lightly against hers, as if testing the waters. The kiss was tender, a soft exploration, and Y/N’s knees felt weak beneath her. She melted into him, her hands finding their way to his chest, gripping the fabric of his shirt as though it was the only thing anchoring her to reality.
Jungkook deepened the kiss, pulling her closer, his arms wrapping around her waist. He kissed her like he had wanted to for so long, and Y/N responded in kind, her hands roaming up to his neck, fingers threading through his hair.
When they finally broke apart, both of them breathless, Jungkook held her close, his forehead resting against hers. His hands still held her firmly, as if afraid she might disappear if he let go.
Jungkook - “You’re not going anywhere, right? You’re staying with me now.”
Y/N smiled, her heart swelling at the tenderness in his voice. She nodded, her arms wrapping around him in a hug that felt both comforting and new.
Y/N - “I’m not going anywhere, Jungkook.”
From that moment on, everything felt different. Jungkook’s eyes softened whenever he looked at her, his words kinder, and there was a lightness to his demeanor that had been missing before. He had acknowledged what he felt for her, and it was clear that nothing would ever be the same again.
