I held an ice bag over my forehead as I laid on the hospital bed, mugging at Shai. I was pissed.

Who would’ve known that bitch knows how to throw hands? No warning whatsoever!

“I hope this teaches you not to pick fights you can’t finish,” Shai told me.

I just smacked my lips and side eyed her. I didn’t need any of this, I was hurting.

Both from the injury and Von sneaky linking with that hoodrat.

I angrily grabbed my purse from Mel’s lap, who was sleeping, and took out my phone.

I checked for any messages or missed calls from Von but there were none.

My heart flinched painfully and I felt tears threatening to come out of my eyes.

I swear, Von hasn’t forgiven me. I could see it in his eyes- he’s been forcing things with me.

Or was I?

I didn’t wanna let go though.

“How did Von react when he seen me knocked out?” I questioned, looking up at Shai.

She shrugged. “How any other nigga would react seeing his girl like that.”

“I don’t see him around here though.” I huffed and threw the ice bag across the room.

“I told you this thing with Von gon end in tears and you ain’t wanna hear me out.”

I made a face.

“Ain’t nothing ending here, this just a minor hiccup we gon bounce back.”

“Funny how you moved here for a fresh start only for shit to turn out this bad.”

I rolled my eyes and sat upright on the bed.

I tried to stand up but she rushed to stop me, looking at me crazy. I just wanted to go home.

“The fuck you doing? The doctor said to stay put and he’ll be back.”

“I’m deadass done with this hospital. I wanna go home.” I pouted and she groaned.

“Sit your ass back down and stop being childish. I ain’t playing with you Lakaela.” She mugged.

I threw a small tantrum and crossed my arms, doing as she told. Shai is scary when she’s mad.

I waited on the Doctor as I scrolled mindlessly on my phone and he walked in a while later.

“Ms Davis.” He approached my bed causing Shai to shake Mel awake.

“Please tell me I can go home,” I spoke.

“Well, you don’t have a concussion and the x-ray doesn’t show any injuries...”

“So that’s a yes?” I asked and he nodded.

“But you might wanna avoid getting into any more fights for the next nine months.”

“Why nine months?” I furrowed my brows.

“It’s at least until the baby comes.” He chuckled.

“What you mean?” I tilted my head, looking at him confused.

“Um, it’s procedure that we always run a blood test before administering medication...” he said, scratching his head.

“You’re pregnant Ms Davis.” He added and my mouth dropped open.

He’s gotta be joking!

I laughed out loudly while Shai and Mel gasped and stared at me in shock.

I shook my head and put my shoes on. I stood from the bed and walked around the room.

I was looking for a hidden camera or someone to jump out and tell me this is all a joke.

I can’t have a baby. No. I’m still a baby myself.
