Truth Be Told, I Love You

Chapter 7

Chloe's POV

I got off the bus and looked for the cafe that we agreed to meet up in; I checked my phone once more for the address and saw them sitting outside under an umbrella with two other people. I squint a bit while walking to realize who it is. Karen? Jessie? Could it be? IT IS! I rushed towards them, tripping over myself a bit before making it to them. I reached the table and immediately hugged the both of them. It's been a while since I last saw them, about half a year give or take. They went to different high schools then us but we met up from time to time, but once university and collage came into the story, it became harder to meet up because of school and work.

After my embrace with them, I sat down beside Alex and after catching up a bit Karina wanted to get serious about traveling.

"Ok so how much money do we have for the trip so far?" she asked looking serious. It was Karina's dream to travel the world and for it to become true she had to be dead serious about it.

"Well I just got my pay check from work so that adds another $2500 to our total so far." I said. Now, some of you are probably saying, "WHOA! THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY!" and yes it is a lot especially for a 19 year old. Well I do have a job that involves coding so that means MONEY!

"Okay, how about you Alex?" we turned our attention to Alex

"I got..." she reached into her pocket and pulled out a few coins. "...60 cents." I looked over at Karina and saw her messaging her temples.

"Alex...what happened to all of your money?" Karina said obviously annoyed

"Uh...I bought food and Pokey."

"Alex I thought we talked about this before. We were supposed to save as much money as we can for this trip!"

"I know and I'm sorry!! It's just that I went shopping and I ended up spending more than I wanted to." Karina was obviously disappointed.

This wasn't the first time this has happened. We had to push back the trip three times now, and it was for the same reason. Alex. She was not very good at saving money especially when it came to food.

"Okay we pushed this trip back too far now, this will be the third time and last time. Instead of the trip being next month, April, it will now be in June! Can we all agree to that?"

"Yes!" I said

"Okay!" Alex said but Karina gave Alex a weird look.

"Alex?" She said

"Yeah?"

"I am going to watch on how much you spend on food."

"WHAT!?"

"I can't risk pushing this trip too far back anymore because school will be starting again soon and I want to be back before it starts." Alex seemed really sad about this but she decided to take one for the team!

"Fine, but I still get Pokey right?"

"We will see."

"WHAT?!" and with that Karina and Alex started an argument about not getting too much Pokey.

I sighed at the two because of Alex's childish behaviour, she didn't change one bit from seventh grade... Seventh grade...Cara...SNAP OUT OF IT! I'm done with her! I don't care if she never got the hint that I liked her! It's her loss...or is it mine...? I SAID SNAP OUT OF IT! I don't want to deal with her anymore. A sudden question snapped me out of my thoughts.

"So you guys are really traveling together huh?" asked Jessie

"Yeah I remember when we would just talk about it in the library in elementary school." She smiled and I returned the gesture.

"Where are you guys planning to go?" asked Karen

"Well we are probably going to Europe first so it's going to be Paris first, then to Rome, Berlin, London, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Krakow, and finally Athens. After Europe we are going to go to Asia. It's Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo, and Manila. Then we will end our trip with Australia."

"That is like twenty places!"

"Fifteen, actually."

"THAT'S STILL A LOT!" I smiled at Karen's expression

"Wait, if you're going to fifteen places, then, how are you supposed to have enough money for that whole trip by June?" asked Jessie

"I am glad you asked Jessie." said Karina. I guess they solved their problem, "We are Backpacking!" she said with some pride

"What?"

"You know backpacking! We will just be going place to place with a budget for every place. We will just get some cheap hotels and take a train from place to place as much as we can. It saves money and I think we should be good with about half a million, more or less."

"Oh okay. So how much do you have so far?"

"Uh I still have to add Chloe's pay check and my pay check from my small animation job. Give me a sec." We watched as Karina punched in numbers into her phones calculator. "Ok so we have about...$490,010."

"Wow that's a lot and your almost there."

"Exactly, and with me handling Alex's food bill we should have enough by the middle of May."

We rejoiced about being so close. After spending the whole day with Karen and Jessica we made sure to meet up again tomorrow to catch up even more on stuff we had missed with each other. After some good byes and hugs we all went our separate ways home. After making it home I was greeted by a noisy house because Ally had her 16 year old friends with her.

"Ally, where's Mom and Dad?" I asked walking into the living room

"I think they went to get food." She said turning away from her friends to look at me

After that statement I went upstairs to my room and closed the door to try and cancel the noise from downstairs. I sat at my desk thinking about my past like an old man on his porch bench. I thought about Cara... She didn't contact us ever since she went to high school. Karen and Jessie went to visit her house but, they came to see that the house has been sold and she didn't say anything about moving. They tried calling her but ended up with no answer at all and soon we all just decided that she disappeared into thin air. I looked through my drawers to find an old class picture of us. I looked at Cara and just felt the pain from long ago. I put the picture back and decided to just do some work instead. I still have to get over her, but it's so hard.
