Darkpool watched Wreneyes leap up onto the high rock, looking confused. She smiled softly at her friend, swishing her tail, Whitepelt looked even happier; Wreneyes had been his mentor. Stormpaw was nearby, looking as pleased as ever; his mentor was deputy! Darkpool knew something Wreneyes didn't though, Millie had told her that Wreneyes would face a fate worse than death not long after she was promoted. Darkpool shivered, Dewpaw didn't seem to notice.
"I would like to say something!" Wreneyes announced.
"Yes, Wreneyes?" Featherstar asked.
"As RiverClan's new deputy, I swear by StarClan that I will do all I can to protect the clan I love; RiverClan."
"Okay..." Featherstar said slowly. "I have another announcement. Sparrowpaw, you've been trained well, I, Featherstar, leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn. From now on, Sparrowpaw, you will be known as Sparrowstream."
"Sparrowstream! Sparrowstream!" The new warrior blushed, and licked Featherstar respectfully the shoulder. Sparrowstream leapt down and sat down with her friend (and possibly love interest?) Reedpaw, who would become a warrior soon. They shared tongues for a moment, and Sparrowstream rubbed her face against his fur. Darkpool chuckled, they were love birds!
"I do apologize to Darkpool though, she has a lot of cats to heal. Not including our prisoner, Sharptooth." Featherstar said irritably. Darkpool laughed and Dewpaw purred, pressing her silvery coat closer to Darkpool's soft gray fur.
"Since Sparrowstream is a new warrior, she will keep vigil for the night and will make it a silent one. Understand, Sparrowstream?" Featherstar said. Sparrowstream nodded. Reedpaw's face fell; Darkpool knew he was nervous to be away from the she-cat he loved. But Sparrowstream had to follow the Warrior code.
"Dewpaw, we need to get to the den, we have a lot of cats to help. Including our new deputy." Darkpool said, and Dewpaw's face fell.
"Do I have to?" Dewpaw whined.
"Yes! Now let's hurry before we're drowning in work!" Darkpool snapped. Dewpaw nodded, leaping to her paws and following Darkpool to the medicine cat den. She got busy sorting Goosegrass and Cat mint, while Darkpool got to work helping Wreneyes, and she asked Wreneyes questions, like what it was like to be deputy.
"Oh, It's fun. Tell you what, I'll let you pick the first patrol." Wreneyes said.
"Oh! I know who I'm picking. Hollyfur, Cloudstorm, Stormeyes and Yellowpelt." Darkpool said instantly, she purposefully didn't choose Streamline, she wanted to speak with her younger sister.
"Alright. Well I feel fine now, thanks!" Wreneyes said. She walked out of the den, and not soon after, Featherstar walked in, bleeding.
"Oh, what happened? You were fine on High rock!" Darkpool asked.
"A bush tore at my side," Featherstar replied simply, taking Goosegrass and licking Darkpool's head, Darkpool shared tongues with her leader for a few moments. Featherstar left soon after.
"Dewpaw, will you go get some more mouse bile? We're low on it, and Icedrop said that Breezekit brought some ticks back from playing." Darkpool said.
"Okay. But just so you know, There are twolegs closer to the stream, so don't go to the stream, they might catch you."
