Hollyfur liked the fact that her sister was deputy. She also liked the fact that she was about to go on patrol with her mate Stormeyes, Yellowpelt, and Cloudstorm. She set off to the RiverClan border, Hollyfur saw Stormeyes and ran over to him, Yellowpelt was nearby, murmuring something about her daughter Dewpaw choosing to be a medicine cat instead of a warrior to Cloudstorm.
"Hello! Ready to go on a patrol?" Hollyfur said happily, "I'm leading the patrol, come on!"
"Fine, Hollyfur, but keep in mind, just because your sister's deputy, doesn't give you all of the power!" Yellowpelt huffed, getting to her paws. Stormeyes shot her an angry look. This made Yellowpelt shut up; everyone knew the tragedy of Yellowpelt and Stormeyes. She had loved him, but he chose Hollyfur over her. Stormeyes strode up close to Hollyfur. Her light gray pelt shifted in the breeze, She saw Stormeyes smile at her, and in his teeth there was a hint of blood. What? Hollyfur thought, shuddering softly.
"Let's hurry! Come on! We can't leave Featherstar hanging!" Hollyfur said, Yellowpelt rolled her eyes.
"I know!"
"You don't act like it."
"Let's just go!"
Hollyfur trotted along the RiverClan border. No one would dare invade the strongest clan in the lake territory!
"Hello, Hollyfur." Said a voice she recognized,
"Pebblefur?" She blurted.
"Yes, it's me." He said, Hollyfur smiled at her friend; she had met Pebblefur at a gathering, and heard him talking to Heavystar about her.
"Hollyfur, why are you talking to this ShadowClan cat?" Stormeyes said.
"Pebblefur's my friend. We met at a gathering."
"Ah, well you have to stop talking to... Pebblefur." Hollyfur could tell he was jealous.
"I can do what I like, thank you!" Hollyfur said sharply. Stormeyes flinched.
"Yeah, she has her own right." Cloudstorm interrupted, Stormeyes glared at him. Hollyfur swished her tail angrily
"Are you jealous I hang out with a Tom that isn't you?" Hollyfur asked.
"No." Hollyfur could tell he was lying.
"Anyways, I can hang out with any cat I want, and if you keep trying to control me you can go be mates with Yellowpelt." She said briskly.
"One of our Elders died today. Stormflight." Pebblefur said sadly. "He was My mentor before he went to the Elder's den."
"Oh, that's horrible! I'm sorry, Pebblefur!" Hollyfur cried. Licking his ear softly. Stormeyes hissed, Cloudstorm swatted him with his fluffy tail.
"I have to go now, Featherstar will be looking for me." Hollyfur told him. Pebblefur's smile weakened but he told Hollyfur to have a nice day, and that he sent Featherstar the best wishes. Hollyfur replied the same. She trotted out of the ShadowClan border and walked to the RiverClan territory. Featherstar was awaiting furiously.
"A cat of our clan has been murdered." Featherstar said. "Reedpaw has been killed."
