Fiction 20- LOWKEY

•••••

Palacios, the family known for its wealth and influence, appearances and propriety ruled above all. Among them was Aurora Palacios, a striking figure of success and grace. With cascading dark long hair, piercing eyes, and a confident demeanor, she attracted admirers like moths to a flame.

Yet, deep down, Aurora longed for something beyond the perfect image—the thrill of authenticity in a world that valued perfection above all else.

"Come on, Kuya! Ayoko nga!" she exclaimed, when Galvan casually tossed an invitation on her way.

The thought of a night spent attending on her family's associates and fending off unwanted admirers filled her with dread.

"Wala namang mawawala sa'yo if pupunta ka. A single date won't kill you." Galvan urged, a teasing smile on his face as he sat across her.

"I know that guy. He's flirty." Aurora protested, rolling her eyes.

"And so? Landiin mo din. You're single, right?" Galvan shot back, raising an eyebrow.

Aurora was caught off guard, glancing on Amando's directions, who was stealing glances at her while tending to his duties. A slight flush crept across her cheeks as she countered back.

"No. I'm not—"

"You're dating someone?!" Galvan asked, unable to hide his surprise.

Aurora hesitated but then nodded, a playful smirk on her lips. She grabbed the folders she just signed a while ago. She stood up from her chair, walking toward her brother, tapping his back.

"You should date too, Kuya. Napupuno ka na ng wrinkles." she teased, walking away from the garden.

As she was making her way toward the mansion, her mind racing with thoughts of Amando. As she walked back, their eyes met, and a secret smile danced between them.

"Good morning, Madam." he greeted casually.

"Good morning, Amando." she replied, her heart skipping a beat as she slightly lowered her head, hiding her blush.

Upon entering the grand mansion, Aurora was taken aback when Amando discreetly slid a piece of folded paper into her hand. Confused, she looked up at him, silently questioning.

"Mamaya mo na basahin sa kwarto mo." he whispered, glancing around to ensure their secrecy.

"Is this a love letter again?" she teased, her voice barely above a whisper.

With a nod, Amando gently grasped her hand, planting a soft kiss on the back of it. The warmth of his touch sent shivers down her spine.

"Sir Amando! May mga delivery pa sa labas!" a staff member suddenly exclaimed, interrupting their moment.

Amando glanced at Aurora one last time, before he rushed off to handle the deliveries. Left alone, Aurora couldn't help but smile, her heart soaring with possibilities. The weight of her family's expectations felt lighter at that moment.

As Aurora stepped into her room, she felt a rush of excitement and without a moment's hesitation, she unfolded it. A smile blossomed on her lips as she read his sweet invitation:

Hi Babe,

Let's date tonight. See you at 7. Love you.

She pursed her lips before folding the paper back, her heart fluttering as she imagine the date she'll be having with him. She spent the next few hours preparing, choosing a simple yet elegant red satin midi slip dress that hugged her curves perfectly.
