The return of his daily schedule was odd, to be frank. In a short time, he'd gotten used to the loudness of the volleyball team, the joy, and the rare wholesome moments he had with certain players.
He was ashamed to think of how long it took him to fall asleep the night he returned home, twisting and turning, trying to get comfortable. But his plushie wasn't warm enough- there wasn't a steady weight on top of him, and soft breaths fanning at his neck.
Yuu wasn't there to cuddle him anymore.
He was awake until morning and let out an annoyed groan. Morimichi roused in her sleep, slowly blinking at him before jumping into his dirty laundry basket and returning to sleep.
Even with his lack of rest, the action lifted his mood temporarily. His cat was so cute.
Just like Yuu.
He clumsily put his glasses on and glanced outside his window. Per routine, Shimizu was up before the sun and had to prepare for his morning run. Lazily, he brushed his hair and tied it into a ponytail, grabbing a headband and adjusting it snugly around his hairline before stepping outside of the house.
Running on autopilot, his mind raced with multiple thoughts about school, track, Yuu's dorky smile, his precious laugh, his sharp canines that make it look like he had fangs, his voice, his face, Yuu's-
He paused in front of a convenience store, staring at the path ahead with wide eyes.
Are these withdrawal symptoms?
Days prior, his runs were done with a calm mind because he knew Yuu was asleep a few steps away- but now that Golden Week was over, he didn't know where Yuu was or what he was doing.
Not that it should bother him this much, he and Yuu weren't together.
But Yuu said he wanted to be Y/N's boyfriend.
He sighed exasperated, running a hand over his eyes and pulling the skin.
This morning wasn't starting on a fun note.
...
Kiyoko stared at her brother as he lifelessly played with his breakfast. His eyes were droopy and the glum aura surrounding him made her worry.
"Y/N, did you get enough sleep last night?"
Shimizu slowly blinks before shaking his head. "...w-wasn't comfortable..."
That shouldn't be right. She made sure the house temperature was around 10°C- just like Y/N liked it- and Mori was asleep in his room (she meowed at him for an hour straight when he returned home and threw a tantrum when Kiyoko tried separating them).
Everything was business as normal, so why wasn't he-
Oh.
"Oh," she said, softly giggling at the realization. "It's because Nishinoya-kun isn't here, right?"
