"Darlin'?"

Y/N's head perks up, stifling his sobs as a boy with dark grey eyes and brown hair. His eyes harden for a moment before softening. "'Samu! I found—"

"N-No!" Y/N yells, covering the other boy's mouth with his sweat-sheened hand. "No,

'Tsumu. I-I'm okay, it's n-nothing."

Atsumu stares, worry in his eyes, before gently lowering Y/N's hand, intertwining it with his. He huffs and sits across from him in a small hole carved into a tree. "This ain't fair ta me, ya know that, right darlin'?"

Shimizu chokes on a cry as Atsumu wipes the tears on his cheeks. "'M sorry, 'Tsumu." The younger boy rolls his eyes. "What're you sorry for? Not yer fault that jackass can't keep her hands to herself. Just 'cause her ma's the teacher doesn't mean she's innocent or anythin'. You're too sweet, darlin'. It hurts me ta see you cry."

Leaves crumble underneath Atsumu's weight when he moves closer, cupping his face and rubbing his cheek against Y/N's tear-streaked one. Y/N firmly holds onto the hands on his face, shivering when the younger boy plays with the hair closest to his nape. "'Samu's gonna kill me if he finds out we're here."

Finally, a smile breaks on Y/N's face as he giggles wetly. "I'll keep you safe, 'Tsumu."

"Ya can do that when you keep yourself safe first, silly." After a moment, Atsumu sighs. "You're lucky Samu and I love ya so much."

Y/N pulls his face away from Atsumu's chest, weakly smiling despite his snotty and red nose. "Yeah, I'm the luckiest little six-year-old alive."

"That's four service aces in a row..." Azumane-senpai says as the cheers in Aoba Johsai's court get louder. Y/N fiddles with the strings in the pouch Aone-san gave him, blocking out the overstimulating noise around him.

He blinks back into reality when he hears something about elementary schoolers, looking up to see Shoyou and Yuu clutching their chests as if someone punched them. "Oh, someone called Hinata and Nishinoya-san elementary schoolers, and now they're upset about it," Tadashi speaks up beside him, with a small smile.

Y/N lets out a quiet giggle. Their boundless energy doesn't help their case, either.

Not long after the elementary schooler accusation, Aoba Johsai wins their first game in straight sets, similar to Karasuno's first game. Tooru-san celebrates with his team as Karasuno players leave the stands to board their bus.
