Chapter 6

November, 2018.

Of course exams were stressful but they are over for now.

"Seriously Kai your sickness has the most perfect timings ever!", I said exasperatedly, with a hint of sarcasm.

She sniffed on the other end of the phone, "Yeah dude... But don't worry! You and her should go!"

"It's not about that... It's- it was a plan for the three of us..."

"I know but nothing we can do right? You both should go"

"Yeah we are... Just got ready."

"Mhm.. enjoy, see ya"

"See ya", I hung up the call.

I gave my fit a last look and headed out.
I wore a casual white tee and a blue jeans.

I decided we can go to the Houston zoo to enjoy ourselves but I was feeling nervous because Kai wont be there with us.

Its just me and her...

I stood infront of her door and took a deep breath.

Okay...

I rang the doorbell, and within seconds she opened the door.
Do I even need to describe how stunning she was looking?

Of course it was a casual floral tee and blue denim but damn. And also where is her bindi?

She frowned, "Kai?"

"Sick."

She stepped aside letting me in, "Shit.. seriously?"

"Yeah... Are you like- interested to go? Or cancel..?"

"Uh.. I don't wanna cancel", she said chuckling nervously.

"Me neither", I said smiling.

"Yeah let's go"

I frowned, and placed a finger between my eyebrows indicating the sign of a bindi, which was missing on her face.

She looked at me, "Ahh... Yeah. Wait"

She went into her room and came back after a few seconds, "Mm?", she asked raising her eyebrows.

I blushed, "Mhmm.. gorge."

She chuckled and we headed out.

We took a subway to reach the zoo since it was far.

I had no idea what the day held for us but my emotions were on haywire.

I was nervous as well as excited.

It's that teenage adrenaline you get when you are with your crush.

We casually talked about our subjects and the upcoming prom en route in the subway and how our idea of going as a 'gang of 3' was a 'badass' one.

Though it was far, it was a short ride.

It was the weekend so it was kind of cramped with families but it was breathable.

There were all kinds of animals, of course it was a zoo.

Land ones, water, air, scales and many more.

"Hmm... So interested in animals?"

She looked at me, "Never thought about it, I just wanted to go out I guess", she said shrugging.

"Relatable", I said laughing.

We walked all over the zoo, looking at animals, reading information about them.

Her eyes often shone whenever she read the information and looked at the animal.

"I think tigers are cool! They are our national animal", she said grinning.

"True... They are cool."

The nervousness soon drifted away from my body replacing it with laxation.

It was really relaxing, going out once in a while and looking out at the world and that too with your crush? It was a bumper offer.

We definitely got tired of walking all over the zoo, the sun was setting.

We sat beneath a tree before we leave.

"Damn... My legs feel like jellies",I said looking at her.

I really hoped my eyes took pictures, the orange light accentuated her profile, shading it perfectly and there was still a faint smell of her sandalwood perfume lingering on her body.

"No joke", she said laughing.

"I enjoyed. Thanks for not cancelling it", I said rubbing my neck.

"No. Thank you for planning. I enjoyed a lot"

I smiled.
I wanted to put a strand of her hair behind her ear so that I could touch her cheek.

I moved my hand closer to hers, but I wasn't brave enough to just hold it yet. Not yet.

She looked down at the movement, and I looked away in embarrassment.

Why the hell does it always happen with me!?

She chuckled, shaking her head.

I withdrew my hand, "Shall we go?"

"Yes let's go", she smiled standing up.

I was too afraid to make a move.
It wasn't rejection that I was scared of but the fact that maybe... Just maybe I would lose what we had then.
