It's so embarrassing that her compliments just live rent-free in my mind.
And whenever I think about them, poof! I don't even realise that I always would be grinning like an idiot the whole time.
Kai definitely noticed that a few times, "Okay. Tell me what's going on!"
I looked at her and chuckled, "What?"
She glanced at the time and closed her books, "Who's got you grinning like that?"
"N-no one!", the stutter gave away my lie.
"C'mon! I have known you for years now. Tell me"
"Uh...", I chuckled nervously and cleared my throat.
She was staring into my soul, waiting for the answer to come out of my mouth.
"Aadhvita", I said exhaling her name.
If it were the present me that time then I would have definitely noticed the slightest hint of dejection on her face, but no, the past me was dense and dumb.
"Oh...", she said rubbing her neck, her gaze on the closed books.
Of course I thought she would be shocked to hear that I liked a girl but the reason was a whole lot different.
"I am sorry, I didn't know how to tell you."
"No that's not the point... Tsk.. leave it.", she said chuckling which almost sounded forced.
"No tell me.. what's wrong?"
"It's your first actual girl crush right?"
"What do you mean actual?"
"I mean- you have got a lot of crushes on girls and aunty probably knows you are Bi by now"
My face heated up, "She- she doesn't know that! I will tell them when... I am ready... And those crushes were on fictional characters okay!?", I said averting my gaze.
"Yeah yeah whatever. Still it counts! You are attracted to boobiesss", she said laughing and drawling the word.
She always finds a way to embarrass me, "You little piece of—"
I grabbed a pillow and threw it at her.
She laughed and threw it back, "If you are serious you should confess"
I huffed, "I would like to wait and see if this stays or not"
"Stays or not...?", she looked at me waiting for an explanation.
"As in... If it's just an attraction or I really do like her"
"Oh! Lemme ask you some questions then"
"Go ahead"
"Do you think about her all the time?"
"When I am idle. Yes."
"Hm... Do you have dreams about her?"
"Sometimes."
She smirked, "What do you look at first when you see her?"
She was expecting a dirty answer from me but I am a gentle-lady.
"Her bindi", and it was true.
She smiled, "You like her."
"Still... I wanna wait."
"As you wis."
I noticed her tired expression, "Are you not feeling well?"
"No I am okay kinda down today because things arent going as planned."
"Sup?"
"Well first off, exams are coming up and second off after exams prom is coming up and I don't freaking have a date!"
"That's it?", I asked my eyebrows furrowing.
As I said, the past me was a dumbass, I wouldn't have known even if I tried that the reason she was upset was because of Aadhvita.
"What do you mean that's it? That's a lot."
"You can deal with exams, that I know. Date..."
"Yeah date...?"
"I don't have one either! So I thought we three could just go like that! Like you know– a gang of three"
"That's not bad either."
"Yepp!"
"Anyways... I should go."
"Yeah sure. See ya later!"
"See ya!", she gave me a little hug and left the room.
I got a feeling that time that she was being surreptitious about something but I didn't want to press her about it.
Half of me was stressed about mid term exams and half of me was excited about the prom.
I flopped down on the bed.
I rubbed my eyes, feeling exhausted.
Yeah... Exams.
