Chapter 3: The Fight

When the triplets were three a fight broke out
between Kelly and Audrey.
Audrey cried  and Kelly poured all his time into
work.
One day, Audrey got a text from her friend Jenny. The text read, "Hey girl,  you alright?
Need a place to stay with your kids?
They fought with their Dad, though, and you're scared now.  I'm a famous writer now and I have a wonderful large empty house with lots of space for you and the kids.
Come to my place in Delaware.
I'm not far from a beach I know you enjoyed them but your father never took you because it
fuelled your creativity."
The next Monday while Kelly was at work Jenny sent a vehicle to pick up Audrey and the
kids with all their belongings. A few days later they were in Delaware. Kelly texted," Audrey, I'm so sorry about the fight. I'm sorry that I scared you like that, my love. Please come home or at least give me a clue where you are."
Audrey texted back, "Sorry Kel, I'm not ready to come back or tell you where I am.
I know Stella is at 51 now you will probably
marry her.  I will be back in Chicago in a few years when the kids are seven or eight.
I'll be fine if you marry Stella.
You will find happiness I promise.
The kids are fine. You want pictures, huh, Daddy?"
Kelly texted back, "Yes, I'd love to see pictures of the kids. Daddy loves his kids. He also still adores you, darling. I miss your touch so much.
I'm with Stella now your right. She had seen some of the old pictures of us and the kids she wanted me to check up on the four of you.
I'm heartbroken over the fact I let my temper flare like that in front of you and the kids."
Audrey "I'm so happy for you and Stella.
I am and I will send the pictures of the kids now."
When the pictures arrived he noticed she had edited out all the signs.
Kelly texted back"I adore you and the kids.
How is Daddy's little girl Lexie?
He wondered if she wanted to know about her job at headquarters."
Audrey texted back "Lexie and her brothers are just fine.  Lexie is always crying for Daddy.
The poor girl must be so confused. Do you want
to video call so you can see the kids again?
Lexie would love that so much. I love you so much still Kel. But I'm not at all jealous of you and Stella. I hope you both have kids when I bring the little ones back to Chicago."
Kelly texted back"Audrey I'm going to video call
next Tuesday at two pm.
I want to get the kids a puppy at some point huh Audrey?
Is it ok if Stella is joined on the call?
I've been worried sick about the kids and you.
I just want to make things better for you and the kids."
Audrey texted back, "Kel, I'm so sorry for leaving.  I was so scared you would hurt me or the kids that is why I left. We should have gone
to couples therapy. Will I be able to get my job at headquarters back when I return to Chicago?
Kelly texted back"I will make sure you get your job back when you return to Chicago.
I just want to continue to keep you and the kids safe I'm sorry for upsetting you.  I'm also sorry
for how I acted. Do you still have the necklace I gave you Audrey?"
Audrey texted back, "Of course I do, Kel. I wear it whenever I need to feel your presence.
Maybe by the time I'm back in Chicago, you and Stella will have kids too. I have never been on a date since I left.  I just focused on the kids and my writing career. How did you and the crew members like the prints of my story?
I have now written over five hundred books
in over twenty series.  You were always right, Kel. I should have punched my stories earlier than I did."
Kelly's Heart pounded as he read this he texted back"Congratulations Audrey on your successful Career. I can wait for Tuesday Daddy needs to see his daughter and his little guys.
You know I will always blame myself for what happened that day.
Audrey, I've missed you so badly all this time.
I have been focused mostly on work, but a couple of times, either Stella or a different crew member has found me crying in my quarters.
Do the kids still have my last name?"
Audrey texted"I would never dream of changing their last name over one time we fought from a few years ago.
We love you so much. Kelly, we need you. It's been hard all this time."
Kelly's heart sank as he read this.
He texted back "Audrey I want to make it up to
You and the kids. I will do anything as long as you approve of it.
I miss my little girl. Is she taking dance lessons
yet she always lioved to dance with me?
Are the boys playing baseball yet or doing any sports? If Lexie is dancing, can I see her recitals, please?"
Audrey sent him videos of his little girl's dance recitals. Also of the boy's peewee baseball team.
Kelly cried seeing Daddy's little girl being the one who often got solos in her recitals.
He laughed at the boys causing mischief at baseball.
He texted back,"Daddy's little girl getting solo already wow. I knew she would be a dancer but never thought she'd be the typical chosen for solos. It looks like the boys are goofing at practice most of the time. That video of the
game that they won was so sweet.  I hope they did not make themselves sick on Ice Cream after the game they won."
Audrey texted back "I can't wait for that video call."
The next Tuesday rolled around Kelly and Stella video called  Audrey and the kids.
Lexie said Daddy, daddy did you see my solos
In my dance recitals?"
Kelly chuckled"Of course Daddy's little girl I did. I loved all of them."
Suddenly in the background little Jackie belched loud and proud.
Kelly chuckled softly "Sounds like someone is
not afraid to belch freely.
Jackie are you alright buddy?"
Jackie said"Yes daddy I'm just fine."
Stella said"Audrey you should check his temperature and make sure he is not sick."
Audrey blushed slightly"Sorry the boys won a ball game last night. I guess he had too much ice cream."
Jenny walked in and took Jackie to the bathroom just in case.
Kelly and Stella both shook their heads.
Stella said"You have to limit them a kids come or mini sized serving. I know they want a lot more then that. It is so important that you limit them with these things."
Audrey nodded sadly"I don't get it both Lexie and Luca don't have any problems with that it's
only Jackie "
Stella said"Hmm it seems he might be lactose intolerant."
Kelly said"She is right Audrey. You need to get this taken care of quickly."
Audrey said"It will  be taken care of soon."
Later Jackie Wonderd back in the room.
Jackie"Daddy I'm all better now.
I want to play catch with Daddy like the other boys at baseball all do."
Kelly 's hearbroke hearing his son's words.
Kelly said"Jackie we will  play catch when when your mom brings you out here. Ok buddy?"
Jackie"Mommy can we go visit Daddy and miss Stella soon?"
Audrey nodded"Alright little man we will do that."
Lexie giggled"Daddy I get to dance with you again and I can't wait."
Stella's heart melted hearing the little girls words.
Stella said"What a sweet little girl you have Kel."
Kelly said"Audrey kids Miss Stella and I have to go now."
Luca jumped in Audrey's lap  with tears in his eyes.
Luca"Daddy don't go. I want to cuddle."
Kelly said" Bud  we will have plenty of time to cuddle when you come visit."
Everyone said goodbye and Kelly hung up.
After the call was over Audrey put the little ones down for a nap she started to plan a trip.
A few weeks later Jackie was in his friend's mom's car when they got in a bad accident.
The day after the accident Jackie was in a medical coma. Kelly called Audrey to check on the kids. After eight attempts she picked up  and his heart dropped hearing the monitors beeping.
Kelly"Audrey what's going on?"
Audrey sniffulled" Kel it's Jackie he was in a bad accident and is in a coma now.
Kelly set his phone on his desk and put it on speaker leaning back in his chair trying to take in the information.
Kelly asked"Audrey please hold the phone to Jackie's ear. I want to talk to him."
Audrey said"Ok Kel here talk to Jackie."
Kelly said"Jackie bud daddy is here please wake up. Please my little fighter  don't give up.
We love you. The crew Stella and I all love you.
Kelly heard his son start to coughing as if he was going to start breathing on his own again.
Suddenly  Jackie's belly rumbled and he let out a  large and loud prolonged belch.
Kelly"Did he have ice cream before the accident
happened? It seems as if his stomach is in  distress."
Audrey said"Oh no he did have a game and won so they went for ice cream.
It seems they need to take the breathing tube out. As he appears to be about to be Ill."
She hit the nurse call button.
A nurse came in and said"Looks like someone is about to be ill let's get the tube out so whatever needs to come up can come up."
A few minutes later the nurse removed the breathing tube. Then grabbed a nearby bin holding it up and positioning the boy.
Jackie started to vomit.
Kelly said "Bud you got to get all of it out.
Empty your belly Jackie you will feel better."
Jackie nodded and vomited until there was nothing left in his belly.
Kelly said"Oh buddy you feeling better now?"
Jackie weakly said"Yeah Daddy I feel better."
Kelly said"Buddy you need to rest now and recover."
Jackie said"Please don't go daddy."
He said sniffing.
As Kelly was just about to hang up suddenly Jackie let out another painful belch.
A moment after the boy went into a seizure.
Kelly hears the hospital staff say the word seizure. He thought Jackie must have a more severe brain injury than they probably thought he would.
Audrey put the phone back to her ear and cried softly.
Kelly said"Audrey looks like you might have to wait a few years to make the trip back to Chicago."
Audrey said"Oh Kel he was really looking forward to playing catch with you."
Kelly said"Everything is going to be alright."
