"What did you find?" Salvatore raised the question as he narrowed his eyes on the figure of Fabio who sat across from him.
Fabio took a deep breath before placing a bundle of files on the oak desk. His shoulders were slumped as he ran a hand through his hair.
"It's not much, but I was able to track every export across all modes of transport over the past 6 months" Fabio explained. Dark circles fell under his eyes, revealing the amount of effort he put into following his boss' orders.
Salvatore nodded at Fabio's words before grasping one of the papers in his hand.
"No public export documented Leonidas' name though" Fabio sighed, raising his shoulders as he slumped back in his chair.
His once usually bright eyes appeared dull by exhaustion. There was a weariness in the way he rubbed his temples, slow and deliberate.
"My only theory is that he was flown out privately" Fabio continued, his voice wavered as his fear of Salvatore heightened by the second.
Salvatore had yet to respond. His mind grew in conspiracies as his gaze sharpened.
"Why do you believe that?" Salvatore finally responded, braking the void of silence as his question pierced through Fabio.
Fabio cleared his throat before placing a few photographs on the desk.
"I located an abandoned warehouse off the Eastern coast of Italy" Fabio explained as his voice turned serious. His eyes analysed Salvatore's expression carefully, waiting for the man to react.
"I contacted the troops who settled there to investigate" Fabio continued with wide eyes, his body language turning anxious as Salvatore's gaze darkened.
"They discovered broken plane parts and abandoned boats"
At Fabio's sentence, Salvatore let out a dry laugh.
However, it held no room for joking. His laugh was of disbelief, the noise making Fabio tense in his spot.
Fabio watched as Salvatore stood from his seat, his nostrils flaring as he ran a hand through his hair.
Salvatore's jaw was clenched so tight, it appeared that his teeth were bound to break.
His muscles in his face twitched in strain as his breathing came in sharp and shallow.
Salvatore despised being fooled.
"We have a rat among us" The brooding man finally spoke, his voice rumbled like thunder as it cracked through the room.
Fabio opened his mouth in contemplation, his eyes widened at Salvatore's claim.
The air between them has shifted, a quiet tension settled over them.
"W-Who do you think-" Fabio tried to question the man, his breathing quickening as he tapped his fingers against the arms of the chair.
"That's not for you to know" Salvatore interrupted, his words were sharp and left no room for argument.
