Vanessa tossed and turned, the bond thrumming faintly as sleep eluded her. Dreams had become a nightly occurrence-vivid, fragmented glimpses of places she didn't recognize and people she couldn't quite place. But tonight, the dreams were stronger, more urgent.

She found herself standing in a forest bathed in golden light. The air was alive with magic, each leaf and blade of grass humming with energy. In the distance, a figure stood, their back turned to her. Vanessa called out, but no sound escaped her lips. The figure turned, and for a fleeting moment, she saw herself reflected in their piercing blue eyes.

Vanessa woke with a start, her breath hitching. She clutched the locket around her neck, the one remnant of her mysterious past. It felt warm against her skin, almost as if it were alive.

"What is going on with me?" she whispered to the empty room.

The next morning, Vanessa met Alexander and Sky in the library, their usual training session postponed due to a scheduling mix-up. Alexander was poring over a book on ancient combat techniques, while Sky lazily flipped through a magazine.

"You look like you didn't sleep," Sky said, glancing at Vanessa as she sat down.

"I didn't," Vanessa admitted. "The dreams are getting stronger."

Alexander looked up from his book, his green eyes narrowing. "Dreams about what?"

"Places I don't recognize. People I don't know," Vanessa said, her voice hushed. "But they feel... important. Like they're trying to tell me something."

Sky leaned forward, his expression serious for once. "Do you think it's connected to your powers?"

"Maybe," Vanessa said. "Or maybe it's just my brain playing tricks on me."

Alexander frowned. "We should tell Dowling."

Vanessa hesitated. "I don't want to bother her. She's got enough on her plate."

"This isn't just about you," Alexander said, his tone firm. "If these dreams are connected to the bond or your powers, we need to figure it out."

Sky nodded. "He's right. Whatever this is, we'll figure it out. Together."

Vanessa felt a flicker of warmth in her chest. "Thanks, guys."
