Evil has to exist.
I've seen many people questioning the existence of God, because there's just so much evil in the world. It's natural to feel that way if one's never read a holy book or practiced any religion.
It's to create balance.
Like I said in the first chapter, and had added a few images too, to make you understand better - evil & virtuous balance each other out.
But really though, imagine a world where there were only evil people present. Or just good people. That's like living a life without problems; bland is what that life would be.
Evil has always really been there. Starting from the first Yuga, where it was present in the Asura Loka, then during the Rama era and the Krishna era & the Kali era.
I'm pretty sure anyone reading this would already know the story of the war between Lord Rama & Ravana (that's me guessing that I only have readers who have read the Hindu epics), but I'd still like to narrate it in a completely broken down format, to remind you the story again, or to let you know the story.
Ravana (रावण) was the king of demons, and lived in Sri Lanka. His sister, Shurpankha (शूर्पणखा), wished to marry Lord Rama, and her proposal was rejected, because he was already married to Sita. Enraged by the rejection, Shurpankha started talking bad about Sita and gave threats. Rama's brother, Lakshman (लक्ष्मण), had enough of her and cut off her nose to make her stop. She was devastated by the act and had complained to her brother, the demon king, and asked him for revenge by marrying Sita.
(The woman lying on the floor is the demoness, Shurpankha. The man is Rama and the lady beside him is Sita.)
Ravana was mesmerized by the description of Sita's beauty and was unable to stop himself from thinking of marrying her. So, one day, he transformed himself into a sage and asked Sita, who was sitting inside the circumference of the Lakshman Rekha (लक्ष्मण रेखा), a boundary Lakshman had drawn which would protect Sita and stop anyone from coming inside, unless she willingly stepped out of the circle. Ravana played smartly and asked her to give him some fruits, and because of her good morals, she couldn't say no to a sage. She stepped outside and Ravana revealed his real self and abducted her. Took her to his country and made her stay in the garden of Ashoka Vatika (अशोक वाटिका).
